Slipper Clutch for 2014 base model
Posted by: jitaylor_imp - 10-18-2018, 04:54 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (16)

Here's hoping the more sophisticated members will be able to stop me thinking about this, or get me thinking more about it.

Would it be possible to install/upgrade to a slipper clutch for the 2014's that do not have one ?

  Who had a Kawasaki Z1, KZ900, or KZ1000?
Posted by: postoak_imp - 10-18-2018, 03:53 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (17)

In line with the "Who had a CB750?" thread. If you've got photos, please post them.

Some of you may remember that I was going to have a nationally-known restorer make a KZ900 for me (it was exactly a year ago, October), but he never followed-through. It's probably just as well as I wound up with the excellent Yamaha FJR1300.

But, I still think about someday owning a CB750 and KZ900, despite all the people advising me not to! Confused Big Grin

Not only has she killed a friend, and endangered the lives of others, she’s now off to prison.

I hope it serves as a warning to others.

  Ohlins shocks for 2017
Posted by: Houtman_imp - 10-17-2018, 07:27 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (27)

Yesterday I picked up my Ohlins shocks from Fast Bike Industries in Hendersonville NC , about 30 minutes from my home.
The owner David Behrend is one of the best suspension guys in the USA.
On the 2013 and 2014 I had ordered the plus 1 springs from Ohlins in chrome but this time I went with their stock chrome spring , no I did not loose weight yet (225) !
I fitted them this morning and went for a ride to the Pisgah Inn on the BRP (very little colour change yet )
They really made a difference for my worn out back , cost for the shocks HO 011 was $ 991 including tax .
Is it worth spending $1000 on new shocks ? for me it was but other people might not think so.
Dave is now also the sole importer for NITRON shocks , beautifully made in the F1 area in the UK.

  Tree fell on my garage
Posted by: curlyjoe - 10-17-2018, 04:11 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (31)

We had a windstorm early yesterday morning and woke up at 3 AM to the sound of breaking glass in our bedroom. A branch had gone through one of the windows. I went downstairs to find out what happened and discovered a tree had fallen on our detached garage. Unfortunately my CB, ST1300 and my wife's car were in the garage. I waited for daylight and found neither garage door would open and the back door was blocked by debris. Also it did not look safe at all to go in anyway. Later in the day a contractor removed the tree from the garage. At this point I'm waiting on the insurance inspector to look at the damage but I'm confident the garage is a total loss.

I'm really frustrated at this point because I can see my CB and on the whole it looks ok but I can't rescue it!

Here's some pics. In the last one, you can see the CB.

  wheels 2014 and 2017
Posted by: sonnyb_imp - 10-17-2018, 12:12 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (14)

Would you guys know whether spoke wheels from 2017 fit 2014 Std?
I checked partzilla and both bikes use same front axle however rear is different.
Would rear wheel fit into 2014 swing arm with 2017 axle/wheel?
thanks

  Ducati Scrambler 1100
Posted by: bigsheep_imp - 10-16-2018, 10:44 PM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (8)

Anyone here go for a test ride? I read a bit about it after catching an ad on FB for it. Very similar in power to the CB but 100 or so lbs lighter. Not like I want Ducati service, parts, maintenance schedules by any means. But I'm curious about the bike as to why they created an air cooled 1100 so similar in power to the Honda?

An Homage to the CB perhaps?

  Dart Fly screen
Posted by: chandler_imp - 10-16-2018, 10:26 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (6)

Installed the Dart Fly screen I bought from forum member @pekingduck. Super easy install. I took it for a quick ride to see how it does. Only got up to about 65mph, but seems like it’ll be a nice help on highway rides. It came in great shape and looks great once installed.
