  YTX14-BS battery
Posted by: Gone in 60 - 04-04-2019, 08:01 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (9)

I’m hopefully going to pick up a ‘13 in a few days. The owner let me know that the battery is original and may not last too much longer.

I have a new YTX14-BS in my garage. It’s the same length and width as the spec battery for the CB, but it’s quite a bit taller looking at the dimensions on the Yuasa website.

I didn’t think to study the battery and it’s installation in the bike. I’m wondering if a taller battery would fit ok based on its location and hold down on the CB.

Thanks

  Front fork oscillation under braking
Posted by: ohiorider_imp - 04-04-2019, 06:45 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (20)

Should probably have said 'fork compresses and rebounds under light to moderate braking."

A couple of things I will try, in an effort to eliminate this.
1. First, I've swapped out the OEM fork springs, first with .90 weight, then went softer with .80 weight. Also installed Race Tech emulators. I mentioned this to the tech at Race Tech. He suggested going with heavier oil, since it was his opinion, after setting up bike forks for Race Tech for 18 years, that Honda SAE10 is too light. He reminded me that the RT valve is pretty much indifferent to heavier oil under compression, since heavier oil controls mainly the rebound damping.

2. Clean rotors with dry 3M green pad by elevating the front wheel, holding the 3M pad so that it cleans brake pad residue off the rotors as you rotate the wheel. Finish this off by wiping the rotors down with contact/brake cleaner and a soft rag. Think I'll try this first just to see if it makes any difference. Any of you cleaned your CB's rotors this way? Do you see any issues in doing so?

  clean front sprocket
Posted by: Bronzaar_imp - 04-04-2019, 03:12 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (22)

Hello fellow CB1100 cruisers,

Since i got my liscence in january and am driving this beautifull Honda cb1100 2013, i am around 4000 km (+-2500 miles)

In allready lubricated the chain a couple of times. but now i real gonna clean it the first time. i understood it's better to clean the sprockets asswell.

Is there anyone here that can explain me how to dismantle some parts to reach to the front sprocket?

thanks in advance!

Mathieu

Corbin seat, test rides, Guzzis and stuff
Posted by: Cresty_imp - 04-04-2019, 03:03 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (32)

I no longer have a need for my Corbin seat. Purchased it for my 2014 CB1100 a couple of years ago and only used it one summer. Like new condition, a must have for the CB1100.

Weight of the OEM Wheels on the 2013/2014 std models?
Posted by: misterprofessionality - 04-03-2019, 11:41 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (7)

I've done some looking but i can't seem to figure out any hard numbers. Has anybodoy had occasion to get an exact weight measurement of the front and rear OEM wheels without tires?

   First few mods
Posted by: CB1100_01886_imp - 04-03-2019, 10:39 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (9)

Let me start by saying that this is a wonder machine...totally worthy of going into space on the next Elon Musk's SpaceX flight Big Grin OR to be considered as MESSI of motorcycles Worship

To push the coolness factor up a bit I made a few minor changes. Nothing outlandish just some subtle tweeks

1. Short round black aluminum side mirrors - they are really short but I am not tall either Thumbs Up . I did not want to stray away from the retro round look of the mirrors. [url=https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01NBOUP0Z?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title]Link

2. LED headligh bulb - good bright light and good fit. So far happy but need some more night miles on road to be fully sure. [url=https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07DGTTTKN?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title]Link

3. Black clutch and brake levers - they are on their way so this one is not yet applied

Overall am very pleased with the bike! Pics posted here :

Is this or is this not an ABS brake?
Posted by: jitaylor_imp - 04-02-2019, 09:56 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

I was doing something with the CB last night, when I noticed the rear brake looks for all the world like an ABS brake caliper assembly. It is a plain vanilla black, single pipe 2014 that I got new in the box last fall. Hope the photos are visible. Did this get on there by mistake during crating or during final assembly I wonder. To bad they did not include the front brake.

  Conversion to 19" front rim
Posted by: LongRanger_imp - 04-01-2019, 04:08 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (20)

The local flat track racing club just received approval to build a mile dirt track out by the airport. I think it's going to be a huge success. There will be amateur flat track races each Thursday night during the summer and a pro championship series on Saturdays. I'm planning to convert my DLX into an open-class racer so I can relive my childhood dreams. I'll need to pare down the weight but the engine should prove to be very competitive, especially once I ditch the porky 4-into-2 exhaust. In fact, I've already lined up a sponsor. Only problem so far is finding a 19" front rim that'll work on this bike. I'd like to go with an Akront but am having difficulty, and Buchanan's is unwilling to help. Anyone have any luck with one on their CB?

Check your calendar, folks. Celebrate
