Tank Panniers

In my quest to maximize the amount of storage on my bike, I'm pretty much finished with the tail end of the bike. I'm now looking at the tank area and my thoughts are a tank bag and panniers. Aerostich makes a fantastic looking set of tank panniers but my concern is that they'd hang too low and touch the engine, causing melting/fire. Does anyone have any experience with the Aerostich tank panniers or tank panniers in general on the CB1100?

2014 Start - Cutoff Switch Question

My 2014 CB1100 died this weekend while taking it out for a short test ride. I was coming up to a stop sign about 2.5 miles from my home when the engine died and would not restart. I had power, lights, etc, but it nothing happened when I hit the start switch. Couldn't hear the fuel pump come on when I turned the key.
I called a friend who suggested that the starter switch and or cutoff switch might have taken on moisture. (He knew that I have to store my bike outside under a cover during the winter.) He suggested holding down the starter switch while toggling the cutoff switch on and off. This technique may have worked because eventually I was able to get it started again. When I got the bike home, I sprayed the switches with WD-40. The battery checked out OK.
Wondering if anyone has had this experience and if so ... was it moisture in the switch? If that was the case, are there any other things I can do to guard against this. (Besides get a garage.: )

I’m in the process of installing these on my 2014,has anybody here got any experience with this setup,I did s search and found nothing. I was able to adjust these things and they are LOUD,I can’t believe how loud these are. I’ve got both an A and B tone and I’m using a relay. Im im the process of making the bracket,as it comes together I’ll get some pictures.

Designing an Engine Oil Temperature Display Gauge Project

Csory (Hungary), may be you can help in this project.
After reading from your (Csory) idea on building display gauge, I pulled out some info together on the design of an Engine Oil Temperature gauge.
By tapping into the actual "EOT" circuit between the ECM and the EOT sensor, one can read the ACTUAL oil temperature in "volts".
The reading should be anywhere between 4.9v "Cold" and 0.01v "Hot".
When referring to the Toyota ECT Voltage/Temp conversion chart, one can logically deduct the actual Engine oil temp..
As per the Toyota ECT Theory file- The ECM feeds a constant 5 volt through 2 resistors (One fixed inside the ECM and the second variable NTC resistor inside the EOT). All are BOSCH design.
Negative Temp Coefficient (NTC)- when the sensor is cold, her resistance is high and vise versa when it reads hot, the resistance drop).
In theory, at room temperature, one should read 2.2 volts and around 0.02 volts with a normal hot engine
Note: If you are checking the EOT voltage, you will require a "High Impedance" meter or the meter will affect the reading).
Good Luck.

CB1100EX- Spokes to '14 Alloy Wheels Conversion

So I have a set of JB Magtan Wheels from my '14 that I'm thinking of putting on my new CB11EX but I'm a little lost, it doesn't look like anyone's done the conversion in this direction, most people want spokes! My understanding is that the axle is different and the '17 rotors don't fit on the '14 wheels, so I'd need new rotors and axles at the very least.
Do I need anything else? Is this going to be problematic since I have ABS on my '17 but didn't on the '14? I can probably DO it if I have a parts list considering it's not that hard to take a wheel on/off, I'm just lost and feel like the dealership would charge me a million dollars to do it.
Alternatively, anyone want some great condition gold JB Magtan wheels?
They're this version here: https://www.samurider.com/?p=26675/#itemImage
