Took a long day ride today near the Tetons and into Jackson.

Thought about ten things I really like about my CB:
-It's a standard and doesn't look like a transformer toy.
-It's black and chrome.
-it's a Honda, reliability.
-It does not have spoke wheels.
-It's an 1140 cc air cooled, inline four.
-It does not have ABS brake system.
-I added grip puppies.
-It has highway pegs.
-It's a six speed transmission.
-It has a chain, A CHAIN!

What all these have in common is that I have heard the CB1100 series described by Honda reps. at the Tokyo motorcycle show as a "Mature Rider" product for the older buyer! Shish...…...

I think I'm getting set for a trip from Gresham, Oregon to Spokane, WA early next week. My son works in Portland, but he spends several 4 day stints in Spokane from time to time. I want to visit him Monday-Wednesday of next week while he's there, June 17-19, maybe Thursday as well. Kind of last minute as he wasn't 100% sure his trip was going to pan out.

1) perhaps a little late and a long shot, but I figured I'd ask: any cb1100 owners in the Grand Coulee, Kennewick, or Yakima area that might put up with an overnight guest for Wednesday the 19th? I'd be happy to return the favor at any time if a rider wants to come through Gresham/Portland area.

2) would like to visit the Grand Coulee dam: any recommendations?

3) I've been told or have read about a beautiful don't-miss ride somewhere in western Idaho...is it hiway 12?

We had a terrible lightning strike on Monday and our land line and internet is restored now when we got our new router . Checking the Forum now to see what I missed !

KTM was in my neighbourhood doing demo days so I went for a ride. It was a decently long ride, much better than Royal Enfields which had a short highway bit, some good corners and a back road or two. It was closer to 40 mins on the bike.

The 790 duke 105 HP twin with 63 Ft-lbs of Torque and a dry weight of 375. The riding position is upright with easy reach to the bars and the bike is very narrow. The tank wraps around your legs allowing you to lock yourself in the bike and really ease up on the controls. The bike has power on tap any where and just goes. It is super light and flickable. It would be a beast on the twisty back roads, probably too much so that it would get me in trouble with the Highway Patrol. It has modes for track, sport, street and rain. It has an iphone sized screen for the display which changes colour based on lighting conditions. It flicked from black background to white background when I went under a bridge and was always easy to see and glare free.

This is the first bike I've ridden since the buying CB that gave me something to consider. I really like the sporty feel and power, but at $12,500 Canadian with no accessories and I would definitely need some good bags for my longer trips. Perhaps in a few years I will look at the Super Duke 1290 with is 160 Hp or the GT version that comes ready to tour. I was going to ride the bigger Duke in a later ride, but we got rained out. The only draw back for me with the KTM is location of dealership and design. I'm not a huge fan of either bike's appearance, and prefer something more traditionally styled like the CB, Triumph, Kawasaki, BMW, etc...

It was just a nice night I decided to go for a ride and realized the headlight was pretty much useless on low beam,high beam for that matter. I spent a lot of time using the flash to pass button,couldn’t see anything to the sides of the road,curves that were easily 15 MPH curves you couldn’t tell until you were right on top of them. Had a few pucker moments coming in to fast,couldn’t see anything. But on a side note me and a friend rode about 100 miles mostly through canyons,12 at night in a T shirt and jeans. You could be filthy rich yet a bike ride late at night in a T shirt and jeans,don’t get no better than that. I know all the safety issue I ignored with my choice of dress my choice.

This spring I added a National Cycle Light Tint Street Shield EX wind screen to my 2014 CB. This morning, while on my interstate commute at 70 - 75 mph, the windscreen disconnected from one of the ball-end attachment points on the right side. It was rather unsettling.

Not sure if I have it mounted incorrectly, but it doesn't seem that those ball-end connectors sit that firmly in the receptors. Was wondering if anyone else who has this windscreen has experienced this?

Hey everyone! Dont know what it is lately but ive just started scoping out the Kawasaki Z900 RS. Actually i know what got me started on it. Aside from seeing it a while back when it was released and not really thinking much about it, i saw one on the road the other day and was like oooh what is that. Then it clicked.

Anyway, i really love the old school orange/brown paint scheme and the aggressive styling of it. So naturally ive been watching YouTube videos and looking at reviews, common issues, mods etc. Seems like owners are very happy with them. Im definitely not a fan of liquid cooling whatsoever. All of my bikes have been or are air cooled and i always felt there is no place for the extra complication on a motorcycle ya know.

However, i cant find myself staying away from it. Now mind you the CB is going nowhere, shes a beauty and very true to the roots and i love it. But, i think i might try to look at one in person down the road and get a feel for it. Im seeing in reviews that they seem to have a higher seat height. Im 5'9" so not super short but i dont want to be tip toeing on any bike etc.

Anyway, just figured i would share my thoughts and see if any of you guys have any experience with it or rode one etc. I get that its not super close to the original but i think its a cool package and came out great. Take care!

This is in the baby stages at this point, but i've got some plans to fly into scotland, pick up a CB1000R and spend a week tearing up all over those lovely single track roads and winding hills in Scotland.

So, first and foremost, members who live in the UK: have you ridden the scottish highlands? what "must hit" points on the map can you reccommend?

Other members who have also traveled to Scotland to do something similar to what i'm doing, what important nuggets of information can you impart? got a specific rec for a rental service?

finally, What time of year is going to be the absolute best riding weather, or at least the safest?
