It was reported today that a 45-year old rider was struck by lightning and killed while riding down I-95 in Florida this past weekend. He was wearing a helmet.

There was a similar occurrence near Boulder, Colorado, about a decade ago, and likely more incidents since then.

Weather isn't always avoidable but if you see lightning, it's probably best to get off the bike and seek shelter.

Lurker for almost 4 yrs now, thinking of jumping in, upgrading my from a cb500f, always gets new but this one I have to go used, I'm so in love with this bike waiting patiently for a good one but most cb1100 in the market/ CL have dark exhaust close to the engine, is this normal?

This spring has been exceptionally cool and very wet.
A lot of that rain that is plaguing the U.S. mid west often ends up here.
Normally all my bikes are out by 1 May, but not this year.
I rolled out my vintage BSA three weeks ago and had a couple of club rides on it, but since the weather has been so terrible I wasn't in a great hurry to roll out the 1100 or the 919.
Today, it dawned sunny and bright for a change and will be so for a few days so today was the day for the roll-out from my basement.
I turned the key, touched the starter and the 1100 roared to life as it always does- almost instantly -and after sitting still since 1 November 2018.
I've always been impressed at how quickly this bike starts.
The 919 has been sitting that long too and it only took a second to come to life once more. The Bonneville is next, but can wait a bit longer.
While we often have lousy spring weather, the only saving grace is that we usually have great riding weather in the fall.
The Honda's are poised ready to ride and all is now right with the world

I enjoy watching owners attempt to bring bikes back from the dead. So I spotted this recent flick and it is one of the more pleasant examples I have seen - and it is a CB750.

Here's a rant. Wishing to support my local brick and mortar store, I went into a local Honda dealership, one of the largest in SoCal, on Beach Blvd in HB, to get a set of brake pads, front and rear. The parts guy said they only have the front, no rears. The rear is what I really want. They can order it, he said, but that would be another trip. I left. A few days later, I went into another shop, Del Amo MS on Cherry in LB. The had one side of the front, they can order the rest, etc. I see why riders buy online.

The saying goes " the majority of any successful project, is having the right tools to do it". Over the years, I have found this saying to be very true. I recently purchased a fork top cap wrench for about $20 including shipping off EBay. The wrench is JMP brand, made in Germany, and is made of a non marring material composed of glass, fiber, and polymer.

The top caps on our CBs are 24mm, and are color anodized. While every other top cap wrench I was able to find was aluminum or steel, this was the only non marring wrench I could find anywhere. Shipping from the U.K. to me was very prompt. When it arrived I was impressed with how stout the wrench is. It is 10 inches long ( good leverage ) and 3/8 inch thick. The wrench fit very snugly on my top caps with no slop.

I thought I would pass this on to everyone as a reasonably priced quality tool, and a worthwhile addition to the tool box for fork oil changes, or changing out top caps with no tool marring. It can be found on EBay, auction # 282384322423 . I suppose it might also be found by searching JMP tool Germany.

After looking into the different 4 into 4 exhaust systems for my 2013 I bought the Moriwaki stainless steel ones.
The Pipe Master 4 into 4 are the best looking , sounding and also the cheapest ones but I went for the Moriwaki because of their close ties with Honda and they have bung for the O2 sensor if so required.
I bought them from Mr. T ., Webike is probably cheaper but I have had great service from Samurider and he supports the Forum.
The price , including shipping was just over $ 2300. Donations are welcome , cash only with a $ 10 minimum....
