Basic question, about to purchase 2013 CB1100 non-abs
Posted by: AsHperson_imp - 05-28-2019, 11:05 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (16)

I found this bike on CL for 5800 which I feel is good for about 8k miles. Are there some key things to look for?

I am looking to make this my main bike for about the next several years if possible and since I live in California I've been making this possible for myself with the exception of my last bike the Triumph Street triple RS I bought new which has 2 motors go out under warranty, I am lemon-lawing it. Meanwhile since the dealership has no loaner program I was forced to buy some other bike for now to get me around. I got a 88' Hawk GT for 500 w/ 59k miles(in the last 4 months it has hit about 63k which is low for me due to the small gas tank and no gas gauge have me limited).

Would it be worth it for me to commute year-round on the CB1100 through all sorts of weather without ABS or is it not too big of an issue? Is it possible to add ABS later on in case I feel it is important? Am I stressing too much on a small subject?

I'm finding it difficult to find a fitting tire that does amazing in water, long life/dual compound, do you guys have any suggestions? I work 7 days a week so if it is a day in the year no matter how hard it rains here, I'm on my bike however I've had a lot of miles in the rain and am a lot more used to it than what I used to be.

Hey guys, just brought home a 2014 CB1100... tommorow will be a week with the beast. So i'm five foot six, not sure of my inseam but i'm definitely tip toeing it.

Makes it difficult to turn the bike around 180 degrees in my front yard where space is limited, don't want to jet off into the trees lol!

I like samurider seats but the cost is up there... I have a shop about an hour away that will shave seats, is this the cheapest of options?

Thanks!

Chris

There are reports here of vicious tornadoes in Ohio and bad storms in Oklahoma over the weekend. I hope any of our members in affected areas, and their families, are safe and have been spared damage and harm.

Thoughts are with all those affected by the storms.

Dorky thing I just came up with, but wanted to share in case anyone else might think it’s useful.

Both of my bikes have fly screens. When I’m at work I cover my bike. I don’t like the cover scratching my screen, and try to put a towel over the screen before I put the cover on, but invariably the towel will move around and ends up on the ground.

Last night I took a microfiber, folded it over and sewed up the sides. I can slip it over the screen and it shouldn’t move.

So, any recommendation of footwear for comfortable touring? I'm very particular about such things because I'm 6'-2", and have a size 13 foot with a H (EEEEE) width. In the past I've worn Stylmartin or Alpinestars that were too tight, or have gone to just leather lace ups.

Hi all,
is anyone out there using these risers on a standard 2014?

- Zeta 7/8" Handlebar Risers

or

- Zeta 7/8" Offset Handlebar Risers

If so, any issues? Wiring? Cabling?
Thanks
J.

  Dearth of UK Forum Members?

It occurred to me that since this is an English-language forum, we should have more members from the UK. Off the top of my head, I can't name one.

I guess it occurred to me because since I started riding a Triumph, every forum and Facebook group is primarily populated by Britons.

Currently USD $4800 at the time of the posting.

Located at [url=https://indianofnky.com]Indian Motorcycle of Northern Kentucky in Richwood, Kentucky just south of Cincinnati, Ohio USA.

A good friend of mine is a friend of the owner of this bike, Don. I have met Don, great guy and a very serious motorcycle enthusiast and collector. Don retired from a career in the automotive industry I believe and now he works at the Indian dealer for fun. He is an active member of the [url=https://vjmc.org]Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club of North America, Cincinnati chapter, where I believe he is a show judge. He is the type of meticulous collector who built display areas for his vintage motorcycles in the basement of his home. It looks like a museum.
