National Cycle Street Shield EX Disconnect - deltamark - 06-11-2019

Hey all,

This spring I added a National Cycle Light Tint Street Shield EX wind screen to my 2014 CB. This morning, while on my interstate commute at 70 - 75 mph, the windscreen disconnected from one of the ball-end attachment points on the right side. It was rather unsettling.

Not sure if I have it mounted incorrectly, but it doesn't seem that those ball-end connectors sit that firmly in the receptors. Was wondering if anyone else who has this windscreen has experienced this?

Never had one pop out while riding. Make sure you use a little saliva and push hard while popping it back in. They can be difficult to seat.

Ah yes, pics would help!

After looking at it more closely, it seems that the brackets may not be aligned properly. The lower mount attachments are situated at the top of the forks. I tried to get the upper handlebar mounting brackets as similarly aligned as possible, but there is a slight variation due to cabling.

I think you can see from these pics that the ball-end connector is coming in at an angle. I'm guessing I need to remedy that.

Yeah...those are some really bad angles. You want the arm to come into the screen as perpendicular as possible.
This is how I had mine mounted before I got the Road comet.

Randy, the way you had yours is how I mount mine. I leave the mounts, but remove the shield and rods in the Spring and put on the Road Comet.

Delta does need to re-position the lower mounts.

I think, I have the identical shield...but my is mounted just 1/4" above the head lamp = very small clearance gap....tested at 165 km/h+ (Cayuga) without any issue so far.

FTFY. Too may of us are MPH and 165 MPH I really can't see happening on this bike. Big Grin

Here are the mounting instructions on the National City site. Notice page 3 for a drawing of proper lower mounting. And notice it is what Randy said. http://www.nationalcycle.com/media/wysiwyg/pdf/ispl/10-119616-000.pdf
