importing a CB1100RS into the US
Posted by: jdiv_imp - 09-10-2019, 06:24 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (35)

Hi all,

Has anyone attempted to import a CB1100RS into the US? I did a quick search and didnt really find anything. Obviously the RS is gorgeous and worth bringing in on its own merits, but the price with the CAD exchange rate makes it an even sweeter deal.

The bike should be identical from an emissions and DOT perspective to the EX. Honda would likely have to write a letter stating as such (has anyone contacted them about this?).

Too much weight to balance front tire?
Posted by: thebrawnyman_imp - 09-10-2019, 02:07 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (11)

Hello All,

Recently bought a set of Pirelli Sport Demons to replace the factory tires on my 2014 CB1100. After mounting the tires, I brought them to a local motorsports dealership to have them balanced. After retrieving them I was told the rear tire balanced fine but the front tire took 3 oz. to balance out. He then told me that this is almost three times the required weight to balance an aluminum, front motorcycle wheel. They then rotated the tire 180 deg. and it still took 3 oz. to balance. I bought the tires through Bike Bandit and reached out to them and Pirelli. Bike Bandit told me to contact Pirelli and Pirelli told me to contact Bike Bandit. Took the bike out, since it needed to be moved to another location, and no issues or vibration ever came from the front tire even up to ~80 mph. Should I stick with this tire or attempt returning it?

Thank you,

  This bike just gets better!
Posted by: ohiorider_imp - 09-09-2019, 08:52 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (26)

I'm closing in on 11,000 miles.

Today's weather couldn't have been better .... low 70s, and a mix of clouds and sun.

I had a funeral to attend between 10am and 12 noon, but once home, I threw on the grungy jeans, old leather jacket, and even older boots (resoled for the 2nd or 3rd time,) and took off for a very short ride from Hudson Ohio to Burton Ohio.

No more than 70 miles round trip.

The CB was running beautifully, the weather was beautiful, farm country and wildflowers were beautiful, and the back roads were nearly traffic-free.

Heading for home, instead of backtracking the two lanes, I opted for US422. The surface is smooth, and the speed limit is 65mph, give or take 5 or 10mph. And minimal traffic, almost non-existant.

The little CB cruised at a steady 75mph for 8 to 10 miles, and even with no windshield, it was wonderful! Maybe even more so because there was no windshield. I've ridden that way for years.

Anyway, just a few lines to let all of you know that I have adapted to the CB1100. She's sweet!

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone tried to use the grab rail/bar from older honda CB's i.e. cb450 and mount them on their cb1100's?

something like this https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ng8AAOSwB...-l1600.jpg

  side stand foot for 2017
Posted by: Houtman_imp - 09-08-2019, 09:31 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (7)

From Webike Japan I got a side stand foot enlarger for my 13 and 14 but as the 2017 has a narrower foot they will not fit on the 2017.
Has anyone found one suitable for the 2017 side stand ?

How much is the CB1100 like other fuel injected Hondas?
Posted by: ohiorider_imp - 09-08-2019, 08:13 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I cannot imagine our CB1100s are that much different than other fuel injected Hondas.

Based on this assumption, should I assume that a good Honda shop would be comfortable working on a CB1100? There's a lot in common with other Hondas, it would appear.

I am impressed with their shop manual ..... I took delivery of one a few months ago, and it appears to cover everything one would want to know about our bikes.

Any thoughts on me assuming that Hondas are Hondas?? CB or otherwise?

East Coast CB1100 Rally Polaroid Album

Here you go folks:

https://youtu.be/bltQqkNRHSY

I strongly suggest playing this in high definition, as the images have an absolutely crazy amount of detail up close. These were captured on a 1972 Polaroid folding land camera model 2. No filters, no technical wizardry, and no complicated staging were applied. These are moments in time captured as they were, unalterable, incapable of telling a lie. Hope these make more people want to suit up and attend a CB1100 rally in the future.
