  Stock Suspension Adjustment
Posted by: riggies_imp - 10-01-2019, 03:17 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (28)

Is there a way to adjust the stock suspension for a heavier rider? It looks adjustable, but Since I have no idea what I am doing with it I was going to defer to you guys. 220 pounds geared up I am, I’m not going to spend any money on new fork oil or springs. So, is there any preload or sag I should adjust on the stock suspension? Thanks!

  Battery question
Posted by: warman_imp - 09-29-2019, 09:37 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (21)

Bought a leftover 2014 (new) in April of 2017. Should I look at my battery as 5 years old or two and a half years old?

  H4 led replacement WARNING !!!
Posted by: Houtman_imp - 09-28-2019, 06:16 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (9)

Last year I bought a H4 LED replacement from a respectable company in Florida. I bought the H4 R4 but when I could not get it into the bucket I put it in my wife's CRV. For my 2013 and 2014 I than bought the H4 Native from the same company.
Today I took my 2014 on the BRP and when I came into the first long and "bendy " tunnel I realized that BOTH the low and high beam were not working , I nearly soiled my clean pants !
I retuned home and the fuse for the head light was burned out , put an other one in and as soon as I switch the bike on that fuse went as well.
When I put the original H 4 back in everything was ok.
I put the LED in at the end of December 2018 and it had only 1695 miles on the bulb.
Tomorrow I will remove the LED from my 2013 and will contact the seller.
BE WARNED THAT SUDDENLY YOU COULD LOSE BOTH BEAMS AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE H4 NATIVE LED REPLACEMENT BULB.
For those interested the company was ADVMONSTER, this is a very respectable seller and I will send them the bulb which smells a little burned.

Intermittent Tick and skip a beat
Posted by: zirconxi_imp - 09-27-2019, 08:17 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (4)

Hi all, recently my bike have developed this intermittent ticks sound and engine will skip a beat when it happen during idling. It only happen after engine warm up and will skip a beat during idling/ free gear revving. But never happen during riding/ accelerating.
I had recorded a clips when this happen during free gear revving and happen at 5s Mark.
Can't get any video during idling because its intermittent.

Something loose maybe???

  Battery

Alright guys. I've got a battery thread to start. I tried searching but nothing came up - which surprised me - so if there is a battery thread please direct me to it.
My battery decided to crap out on me in rush hour traffic right before passing a wreck closing two lanes of traffic leaving me to weave threw a couple cars to make it to the shoulder. I thought I had messed up something when changing my oil yesterday! At any rate, I trailered it home and pulled it out to find what I suspect is the original battery.
I'm taking battery recommendations. What's everyone running in their CB?

  Austin to Terlingua
Posted by: ishouldbuyatacotruck_imp - 09-27-2019, 10:46 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (17)

Hi y'all! I'm planning my first solo trip this fall from Austin to Terlingua. Nothing crazy, just over 1,000 miles round trip. Giving myself plenty of time to get there - I think this will be my route.

Day 1 - Austin to Del Rio
Day 2 - Del Rio to Terlingua
Day 3 - Tooling Around Big Bend
Day 4 - Terlingua to Rocksprings
Day 5 - Rocksprings to Austin

I'm looking through the forum to get recommendations for tank and tail bags, and I'm sure I'll post photos, but if y'all have any tips, I'd welcome them! I'm planning to hit the road in early November.

Some questions:
[ul] [li]What size extra fuel tank should I carry, if at all?[/li] [li]Best headphones?[/li] [li]Are our tires readily available? I'm so worried about a flat.
[/li][/ul]
Thanks y'all!

Trailer for a documentary coming out in Oct, I apologize if this is a repost, but I thought folks here might be interested. It features both younger and older well regarded customizers.
