A large forest fire has been raging around the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona in recent days and yesterday the historic Visitor Center and Lodge were destroyed. The lodge was built in the 1930s and was a beautiful place to behold. Because of the differences in building techniques these days from the 1930s, it will likely not be re-built like it formerly stood. Fortunately, there was no loss of life, as far as I have learned.
 

The Sunol Wilderness Regional Preserve is one of my favorite destinations. It is a perfect example of a Northern California ride that enables a motorcyclist to be in the moment and celebrate the beauty of riding and nature.Believe it or not, it is possible for both to coexist!

At present, 7,000 acres are shared by grazing cattle, all kinds of birds and animals, beautiful plants, and Californians who walk, ride, hike, bicycle, and drive the Calaveras Road, the only road I know that runs the length of the Preserve. It is 21 miles of the most beautiful vista and turns you can possibly imagine.



I believe the best entry into the Preserve is from Interstate 680:



It is a road built for experienced motorcyclists who properly maintain their motorcycles and understand how to ride a twisty road. There are no guard rails, proper turnouts, and the descents are steep. If you loose control or focus, the consequences could be dire. However, the connection to nature and your motorcycle are spectacular while riding Calavares Road. A few pictures follow. I hope they give the ride justice.

Part #1 - Quebec City, old town

I would like to get a cover for my CB to keep the dust off when sitting over winter and also for occasional nights I may leave it outside overnight.

I see a few on Amazon that are described as 87 inches or 91 inches, which I assume is the length laying "flat" (or am I thinking about this wrong?).

The bike measures about 84 inches, but our CBs have some width to them so I was considering 91 inch.

Could anyone give advice on this?  It is a small matter, but I'd rather buy the most appropriate size.

I have never been a fan of windshields, but I know others do like them.  The previous owner had this on the bike and I thought I would post it here for sale... I would sell it for like $25 plus shipping.  I will include the puig mounting bolts since the PO even kept the original headlight hardware in the tool pouch.

Howdy, everyone.  I have been lurking around the forums a few weeks searching the collective wisdom about the CB1100s...

I bought mine about 3 weeks ago, a black '14 with less than 8k miles... people have been asking me if it was brand new!  I have been away from riding for a little over a decade and decided it was time to get back at it...  after some searching, I kept coming back to this CB at the local dealership... it is mostly perfect, big air-cooled engine, slightly sporty, not too-much computer-controlled junk, classic looking.

It had a small windshield I didn't really care for, so that came off quick (where should I post it for sale? I see bikes for sale, but not accessories).

I am planning on a couple of mods to make it "mine"... I know there are a few things to get several more horsepower and maybe lose a little weight (what is the latest on lightweight batteries?).... and I have some issues with the rear fender and giant taillight.

I am 165 on the bathroom scale, probably 175 sitting on the bike, and I find the rear suspension harsh at times even with min preload.  I added preload to the front and at least now it feels balanced front-to-back.  RR: softest preload, 38psi, FR: 1.5 turns back from hardest preload, 34psi

The bikes I owned years back were both shaft drive, so I will be asking about practical chain maintenance shortly.

Other than all that, I am almost 50, married with 2 kids; we live in Pennsylvania.

Hi - I'm sure this has been posted somewhere, but apologies I can't find it.
 
I have a 2013 UK spec CB1100 and am in future looking to add panniers (side bags/cases) for touring.  I've not decided which ones yet, but it would add a lot of flexibility if I could move the rear indicators to near the rear tail light.

I believe Hepco & Becker sell a bracket with their side cases, and I also see a KIJIMA turn signal relocation bracket on japan.webike but that specifically says the 2013 signals will not fit and I'd need to buy some universal ones.  I've also asked samurider and got a nice reply, but they don't sell them.

So has anyone either modified a Kijima bracket for 2013 signals, or have a different option??

Hi all, new owner here in UK of a lovely condition 2013 CB1100 (coming from a 2006 CBF500 !).  Pretty much standard condition (apart from a luggage rack and dart flyscreen) & really well looked after by the one previous owner.   For a while I was changing up a bit early, but then I tried leaving it in 2nd or 3rd gear for the fast country roads and it is really smooth and responsive.  Very nice.  I have a question about relocating rear indicators (turn signals) but I'll post that in the appropriate part of the forum. (and yes, pushing it backwards on that gravel driveway is quite hard work
