This past weekend, the Petersen opened a new exhibit called "Totally Radical", featuring cars, bikes and artifacts from the 80s and 90s. It's quite an immersive experience and as a guy who started legally, and I'll emphasize "legally" driving cars and riding all manner of scooters, mopeds and small bikes (miss that MB5)  in 1984, it's cool to see "my era" culturally memorialized. 

I've only had a few minutes so far to take it in, but it's got some neat bikes on display. Bonus points for anyone who can identify that last one. And behind that last one is a screen-used Ferris Bueller Ferrari. As soon as I saw it, I had to say the line... "I love driving it. It's so choice. If you have the means, I definitely recommend picking one up."

In my long riding career, my battery maintenance has been limited to purchasing very good batteries, keeping them clean, and replacing them before they actually failed. It has worked for me so far, because I have never had a battery issue.

Recently, I replaced the battery in my CB1100 with my first ever motorcycle lithium battery. There seems to be reasonable consensus that lithium is preferred over lead-acid for the following reasons:

Higher energy density: More power with less weight, improving your bike’s overall performance.
Longer lifespan: When properly maintained, a lithium battery can last two to three times longer than a lead-acid motorcycle battery.
Faster charging: Lithium batteries charge much faster, reducing downtime between rides.
Low self-discharge: They retain their charge for longer when not in use, making them great for seasonal riders.

So with the upgrade, I also felt the need to up my game on the battery maintenance. To that end, I installed a smart charger to help me realize the benefits listed above. Consensus on smart charges is far less universal, but the most common theme follows:

“Invest in a smart charger equipped with automatic voltage detection capabilities. These chargers can identify the battery’s voltage and adjust the charging parameters accordingly, eliminating the risk of overcharging or undercharging and optimizing charging efficiency.”

The installation of my smart charger was straightforward and took about 15 minutes. Pictures follow.

What I plan to do, subject to the validation of the Forum’s Members, is to plug in the smart charger after every ride while I clean the bike, allowing it to charge for an hour or so. I am not inclined to leave it plugged in unattended.

After looking at all sorts of of saddlebag support bars...I started looking at the two pegs that stick out and thought maybe I could just, you know, "make something"...something that I could just stick on and pull off. 

I'm sure it's a terrible idea, but keep in mind I'm a former long-time owner of a KLR650 and KLR owners are proud of their old milk crates that serve as tail bags...


I could just zip-tie the wood supports to the grab-rail, and I should be good to go, right?

I bought this off a member off the old forum. I tried on several occasions to get along with this saddle, no go. I'm short (5'9"), and short of leg (30") and this seat just puts me too high and too far back. It comes with the passenger backrest. If you are looking at this, you probably already know how expensive they are brand new. I figure $400 shipped to the lower 48 is a fair price.

Hi guys, 
new here, old hand in moto, I own recently a 2017 Honda CB 1100 RS(now 10.000 km) I ride it a little and I have important issues as follows:
- Knockings under the front valve lid(front right) only after the engine is hot.(camshaft, valve timing, cam chain???)
- strong vibrations in the handle bar(high pitch) after 3,200-5.000 rpm doesn't matter the gear, speed or if I rev' it on stand. I check and all the nuts are tightened OK, vibrations come obviously from the engine. I've used first time AmsOil 10w40, then I change it to OEM Honda 10w30-MA, I've changed the sparks too and... nothing. 
- sipping oil from the valve cover gasket, but this is a common fail as I've noticed to many air-cooled Honda.

I need your expertise and experience to find what is to be repaired(what's the cause), those issues are driving me Crazy for such a "young" moto with such big problems. I've visit some mechanics(even at Honda) and they didn't find/guess the real problem, they raise the shoulders. Did you encounter such things? Thank you!
