  New Honda Model
Posted by: dave - 10-06-2022, 04:37 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (1)

Hi Guys, I was curious what the forum members thought of the new, 2023 Honda 750 Hornet. You can view all of the details at Motorcycledaily.com.

Do you use Facebook? (post-forum alternative)
Posted by: Nemo_imp - 10-06-2022, 04:23 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (57)

Given the impending closure of the forum it is important that we have a backup means of communication especially for the planning of the meets, rides and rallies.

Facebook already has various CB1100 groups and, honestly, sometimes it is difficult to know which is which. So, if transferring the forum to a new administrator is not an option, I suggest we (meaning EmptySea Cool ) create a facebook group page aptly named CB1100 Forum. We could try to emulate Mickey and George's moderation rulebook and when people request to join the secret question could be "What was your screen name in the CB1100 Forum?" Just an idea...

Maybe we can even get Mickey and George to learn the facebooking... Big Grin

What do you think?

  First Ride, what a joy
Posted by: The Gecko_imp - 10-06-2022, 01:51 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (29)

After
- cleaning every corner of the bike,
- replacing filters, tank, hoses, chain and sprocket, turn signals
- takin' every switch and many connectors apart since they must have all gotten wet
- wheels off and on (for cleaning the calipers), and replacing brake pads and fluids
- getting mud out from on top and behind the cylinders, spokes, and in G.knows how many other places
- not the least cleaning and polishing the pipes for hours ....
- getting rid of the O2 sensors (which didn't work no more),
- and screaming for joy when the engine started the other night (after many more not so successful attempts ...)

I had my first ride today, up to Monte Sano State Park ... in case the engine quit under my but, from where I could still roll home.

What a beauty, and all mine for 3000 bucks, plus parts and a lot of optimism, and some 40 or 50 hours of really hard work. Riders, friends, forum members ... I love this bike ! Tomorrow will be a daredevil's trip all the way to Guntersville lake, hopefully in sunshine and 80F.

  Salvage Parts
Posted by: Tom_imp - 10-04-2022, 11:52 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

My 2013 went to salvage and was auctioned off by Copart in Newburg NY in August. Don't suppose any of you bought it?

My replacement 2013 has the high idle issue, but the salvaged bike ran great. I missed my chance to buy the old one back for parts like the ECU IACV. Do any of you know where to look for used parts?

There is a 2014 in RI with a day of bidding left. Current bid is only $30: https://www.copart.com/lot/57286482/salv...-ri-exeter

Just had to share this one as its the best sound comparison I've ever seen with ride bys and db levels and modifications.
This guy went to a lot of trouble to do all this for us.

  Winter Battery Maintenance
Posted by: Wagonpeddler_imp - 10-03-2022, 08:17 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (27)

I've always removed my battery for the winter, and kept on a tender inside. Wondering if keeping it in the bike (and on a tender) in the cold garage for the winter would be OK. Once the bike is "winterized", it stays unused until spring.
Appreciate any comments.

  about ECU controller
Posted by: Chungwoo KIM_imp - 10-03-2022, 05:46 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (10)

Hi guys! nice to meet you. I'm an normal Korean user with a CB1100ex (2015).

Recently I bought a "memjet evo" from jet prime(somethimg like that ECU contoler).

Of course, it is for cb1100ex, and I purchased it after confirming the possible model year. This product is to be installed on the air temperature sensor of CB. However, there is a problem that the shape of the connector does not match at all. I contacted the Italians, but to no avail. so I'll cut the connector off and try a wire-to-wire connection.

Help please friends!
