  silver wheels
Posted by: Houtman_imp - 08-14-2013, 11:03 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (5)

I like the looks of the siver wheels a lot more than the black wheels and I am trying to find out from the UK CB1100 forum if their wheels are painted silver on the rough castings like ours in black or if their wheels are polished which I doubt.
If it is just silver paint than I see no reason why we can't just paint our wheels silver as well.On a rough casting it is easy to brush paint as you will hardly see any brush marks.
I am even thinking of buying a spare set of wheels in the USA and paint them and keep the first set as original for if I ever sell the bike (hopefully I will ride this bike for a very long time as it is so light to handle)
Ofcourse I hope that Honda will bring out a 2014 model with a black tank but silver wheels and engine.

  Got my bike back!
Posted by: PowderToastMan_imp - 08-14-2013, 03:52 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

It's been 2 months since my accident. I actually got the bike back about a couple weeks ago, but I was out of town for vacation and couldn't ride.

Feels real good to get back on this beautiful steed! And she's pretty much good as new, though I got a new ODO and had the miles reset to zero.

Here's a shot of a stopping point on Highway 9 from the day I got her back.. This is maybe a mile or two up the road from where I got hit. I didn't mind going back up that way since it was a weekday and there shouldn't be much traffic. I might stay away from there on weekends from now on, except maybe early morning.

  CB 1100 Parts Suppliers
Posted by: rrecroc_imp - 08-14-2013, 11:27 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (14)

Greetings,

Any ideas for finding suppliers on the internet who carry aftermarket parts for the 1100 ..... most of the dealers don't even have the model listed in their drop-down boxes ....

Right now, I am looking for some crash bars ...... for protection against tip-overs but largely also as a base for installing bright forward facing lights for more bike visibility.

Thanks,

Rick

  Electrical-Tape Issue
Posted by: Wildbeard_imp - 08-14-2013, 06:20 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (16)

Today I noticed near the intake and on the clutch wiring harness that the finish was done in electrical tape. Has anyone else noticed usage of electrical tape on their CB1100? I find it hard to believe the electrical engineers at Honda designed this bike to be delivered to the customer with electrical tape on it, but alas, that's what my dealer is telling me. Apparently they have seen the issue on other CB1100's and Honda says that is how they are delivering the bikes.

Am I crazy or is this bad workmanship?

cb on its way to europe
Posted by: bronx boy_imp - 08-12-2013, 12:13 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

so saturday, i sent my gasoline and motoroilless (i don't know, is motor oil less better? i am thinking that combined it reads almost like lioness or goddess...motoroilless...no, i am wrong) motor oil less cb to the atlas shipping company. they are going to air freight my 3 month old baby to bucharest, romania, and she is expected to disembark or deplane (...another word that i do not like) on 8/27/13. unfortunately, i will not be there when she arrives.
i assume that she will be treated with the respect, kindness, and care that any 3 month old deserves. i will arrive on 8/30/13, and with a little less than 4 liters of 10w30, and maybe 6 liters of benzina, si vom pleca (we will be on our way...in romanian).
we will be together for about a month (depending on work)...then i will leave her, come home spend six months reloading my wallet...then another month of riding...then back to work for 6, etc...,etc..., and so forth. this until i have covered everything that i want to see on the continent, run out of money, or get thrown out. in any case, there should be a story or two which come of it.
i have installed the corbin seat with the back, as i intent to do some two up riding, and i welded up a frame for soft sidebags and a soft topcase.
it's not quite frankenstein, but it will pass in transylvania (can't believe that i never took a picture of this thing, but i will send it next month).
i really picked this bike for this purpose as i believe with its low center of gravity and the straight up riding position will make it easy to short distance "tour". also the weight is light compared to most touring bikes, and the bike looks cool ...especially with a new york license plate in... anywhere across the pond.
can't wait...keep you posted.

  Loose bar ends?
Posted by: Brant_imp - 08-12-2013, 08:35 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (8)

I've noticed that after the engine is under load that the handle bar ends vibrate and turn. The salesperson stated this was normal. Any input?
