   AIM Expo
Posted by: The Spaceman_imp - 10-19-2013, 12:13 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

This the inaugural year of the American International Motorcycle Expo in Orlando FL. The show has been open to the industry for a few days, and open to the public today and tomorrow. What a show! All the major vendors of gear and accessories are here. Suzuki has a huge sect, as does Yamaha. There are even companies like these guys who make a scientific alternative to antifreeze. Tomorrow we're doing demo rides in the morning.

But , the best part are the collections of classic bikes on display. I havephotos of CBXs, CB400's with the original 4 into 1 pipes. Anyway,I wil post photos tomorrow!i.

Pricey, but as long as I don't gain weight, should last a lifetime....
color scheme could work on many motorcycles.

  10W40 and cold weather
Posted by: retroman_imp - 10-19-2013, 06:41 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

Hi,
I used 10w40 for the 600m oil change since the dealer was out of 10w30 and recommended 10w40 instead. The last couple of times I took the bike out for a spin in mid 40s temp I noticed louder than usual valve clicking (almost small knocks) sound from bottom front right corner of the engine, I also noticed rough idling and jerkiness (RPM fluctuations) during first few minutes or few miles of riding. Once the engine warmed up it was back to it's normal smooth self. Didn't realize that switching to 10w40 would make such a difference in cold temperatures. I don't plan on riding much longer in colder temperatures and thought I'd share this anyway to see if anyone else has any such experience or input.
Thanks,

  Gauntlets, anyone?
Posted by: CB4ME_imp - 10-18-2013, 10:42 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (12)

Has anyone used deflectors to keep the wind off their hands in cold weather riding? Gloves heavy enough to keep fingers warm for longer rides can restrict movement, and you need to be plugged in with heated gloves. I imagine heated grips work well but they’re fairly expensive.

I was surfing Webike and came across these Chic Design GUYRA gauntlets. They are more stylish that the less expensive wind deflectors available from J&P and other US retailers yet appear to provide good coverage.

Thoughts?

Got it mounted last not have not took it out yet, hope to get in the wind today and see what kind of difference it make, hoping it just directs the wind off my chest and a little higher if so I will be very pleased.
