I visited Helimot In Fremont, CA this Saturday. I've heard raves about his race suits and gloves from everyone that's heard of this little shop where Helmut and his wife Lynda manufacture their products on site.

This week Helmut is making a pair of his Helimot [url=https://shop.helimot.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=25]Buffalo Pro gloves for me. He is an avid rider and these are the gloves he uses. I tried on his well worn pair and loved them immediately.

He's also a fanatic about fit. After measurements of my hand, fingers (length *and* circumference) and tracing out my hand on paper and trying on several gloves, it was clear my hand was a combination of XL and L.

Helmut is enthusiastic about his products and his leather manufacturing equipment. He took me in back of the shop where the sewing machines are as well as the iron patterns for the glove and hand and thumb shaped irons that heat shape and condition the gloves so they're perfectly formed for riding and comfortably broken in from day one.

The quality of the leather and the stitching seem to be as important as the glove design in delivering the strength and protection that have held up for many locals who've logged 75+ mph offs with hands protected and gloves and seams intact.

I can't wait to pick mine up next week and share a thorough review of these gloves. But I can already give Helmut 5 stars. He's a complete riding enthusiast, dedicated and skilled craftsman and an all around great guy.

It was time to put the CB up for the winter ,nothing but cold and rain and snow from now on.
I shipped my saddle off to Sargent seats today.

The season in Rhode Island is definitely getting colder but my neighbors and I got a chance to go riding on both Saturday and Sunday. Sunday's ride was a clockwise loop of Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut (starting in RI at roughly the 3 o'clock position, green pin "A" on the map): ride west and slightly south in RI until just after crossing the Connecticut border then hook a right at Canterbury CT -- green pin "B" -- and head due north to a restaurant in Pomfret CT -- green pin "C"; stop for some lunch and heat, then head east back to Providence and a small coffee shop -- green pin "D" -- before heading home (map is below). A little over 100 miles in total.



My bike in the driveway, first one up in the morning. Very New England fall morning: leaves on the grass in the lawn, road slightly wet from a brief overnight shower, sunrise colors on the bike.



The bikes lined up ready to head out. That Ducati Diavel is a monster it is so quick, and the Shadow is a great bike as well.



Stopping at the Vanilla Bean restaurant (we were getting pretty cold by then). This restaurant is great and caters to bikers, well worth a visit if you are in the area. The north / south Route 169 in CT is very beautiful.



Unfortunately no pick of the coffee shop at the end!

One of the instructors at the MSF school where I re-upped my license is having issues with a second hand Victory bike he got a few months ago and expressed some interest in my CB1100 (I was on the XR650L when I stopped by to chat) so I went home and swapped bikes and let him ride the CB a bit.

He really liked it. It has been on his radar and the "test" ride pretty much confirmed his gut feeling about the bike. Now he has to get the Vctory running so he can sell or trade.

Luckily his wife seems to be on board with the swap (she is an instructor too).

Back in the day, 1972, CB750.

Anyone remember what this fairing was. Not a Vetter, I believe.

I picked it up today! Gonna try and install it myself tomorrow. Clip ons perhaps too. I love everything about this tank. it matches my cowl so well and the fact that my key works with the racing gas cap is the cherry on top!!!

Just got these in from Mr T. Black grab rails and black head light brackets with reflector. I have turn signals on the way and then its black side panels and a new seat.

Just happened to take a look at the Samurider site and noticed that they have a number of pre-owned gas tanks for sale, mostly black in color, including one in the Mugen paint scheme and another with matching black side panels.

Just a FYI for anyone who might be interested.

This a Garmin GPS record of my ride this morning in northern Delaware. The small back roads work out well in the cooler weather since the winds speeds are kept down. I love the maze of little roads in my area, great to ride around and explore on my CB1100!
my average speed was <35MPH
