First oil change, first problem (or two)
Posted by: rboe - 11-10-2013, 10:02 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (18)

Backing out of the parking spot at the Grotto this morning she seemed a bit hard to push. Didn't think much of it so I continued home.

Fixed a pinched oil line on the 650L so I was feeling my oats and decided to change the oil on the CB since I had 590 miles on her. All went well until I tried to remove the oil filter. I could get the filter wrench on it but once loosened there was no room between the wrench/filter and the headers so it was pipe wrench time. Got that sucker off. Smile

New filter and oil installed so I checked the chain and spun the rear wheel. Grinding noises! Rear pads, perhaps more the inside one, was binding on the disc. Looked closer and the black paint had been cooked off the disk. Sad

Looks like a warranty visit.

Never had this problem before so I"m not sure how to trouble shoot. Nothing in the shop manual about it. I'd tear into the caliper if it was off warranty but since it's not; I'll let the Honda boys have a look see at it.

  Rear turn signals
Posted by: Sfomoto_imp - 11-10-2013, 09:54 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (3)

Hello,
Question: When I start the bike the front turn signals stay on but the rear turn signal are off. I noticed that the rear turn signals only come on when I push the switch to use left/right or emergency lights (then all 4 turn signals blink). Are the rear turn signals supposed to stay on all the time like tail-lights?

Thank you,

SFO

  Oil change before/after winter?
Posted by: HikerToo_imp - 11-10-2013, 07:38 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (11)

I'm almost due for my 2nd oil change( coming up on 4500 miles).
If I'm only going to put a few more hundred miles on it before next season.....it will mostly sit in my cold garage for next 3 or 4 months. would you change the oil now or just wait for next spring/season?

I have Honda 10/30 full synthetic, so it could probably go to 5500 miles anyway....

Exhaust install and Dyno recommendations in Nyc
Posted by: Brocade_imp - 11-10-2013, 03:49 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (9)

Folks
Hello to everyone. Just placed an order for a cb1100a, picking up Thursday. I intend to have the pipemasters 4x4 installed. Any recommendations for a shop that will also fit a PCV and set-up a custom map in or around NYC ?
Thanks in advance

  CB1100 or CB1100A?
Posted by: CB750TOM_imp - 11-10-2013, 03:38 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

What is the difference between the two? I just bought the CB1100A and while looking through the shop service manual two things caught my attention. 1. The weight difference between the two models. Where is the extra weight? 2. The brake line is routed to the outside of the throttle cables on the CB1100A. This is an issue since I plan to raise my bars and will need to re-route the brake line. Thanks for any help. Thanks

  Custom sidecover emblems

Just contacted this guy on Ebay to see if he could make a 1100 version of this emblem. Would anyone else be interested in them if he did make a run?
