  Triumph Bonneville
Posted by: cb400four_imp - 11-03-2013, 01:45 PM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (27)

I was taking pictures of the NYC marathon and on the way home I spotted this Bonnie on the sidewalk. I like the looks of our Honda, but I thought this was also a good lookin' bike. Any owners on this site want to discuss how it stacks up against our big red?

  My aching back...
Posted by: ride4now_imp - 11-03-2013, 12:27 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (39)

I was out and about today... putting about 110 miles on the CB.
Nothing special to talk about, just a nice ride to enjoy the cooler temps
here in Fla. But my back is really aching tonight. I don't have a windscreen,
however I did order one a few days ago. I hope its the lack of a shield
but I am 6ft tall and since the bike feels a bit snug, I'm fearful there's more
to it than that. How tall are other people on this forum? If you're 6' or taller,
do you have this problem or do you think it's the wind? I did run a bit
faster than previous rides as I'm approaching 600 miles on the clock
now. My other bikes have wind protection but they are bigger too... Sad

Broke my heel, won't be riding for a While

So I drug the little 69 Yamaha YAS1C we just finally got revived and running again, put a chair out in the drive and did some detailing on it.
What a cute lil bugger it is and runs like a scalded dog!

Bummed that couldn't ride it to check it out, I grabbed Deb on here way out to work, still in her rubber garden shoes from feeding the critters out back, and made her take it down the road for me so I could hear it, I think her face says it all Clap

One of my favorite local riding destinations, overlooking the Susquehana river in south PA.

  New layer worked great!
Posted by: HikerToo_imp - 11-03-2013, 06:54 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - No Replies

I did a ride today, was 50 degrees and decided to try the following combo, worked great.
1. Base layer - smart wool long sleeve 200 weight shirt
2. Insulation layer - down "sweater" fall weight jacket.
3. leather jacket

The down sweater was new for my ride, I've had it for hiking and casual use, first time on the motorcycle. did not feel bulky at all, fluffed up where it could and compress where tight and very light.

Something like below.

  Riding for a burger
Posted by: the Ferret - 11-02-2013, 07:54 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (8)

Younger brother came over today and we headed down to a burb of Cinti called Norwood to visit Quatman's Café. One of the top 5 ranked burgers in Cinti. Some rank them #1. Been that way since 1966 when the Norwood GM plant workers needed a place to eat. Real blue collar place. Nothing precocious about the burgers or the place. Big hunk of meat, melted cheese on a regular bun, onion and pickle come stock for a fair price. Burger, a basket of fires and drink $6.57..$7 with tax (they don't like to make change lol)

We sat where we could see the bikes, and ordered our burgers. Mine pickle only, my brothers thru the garden... and a couple of root beers.

red and white plastic checkered table cloth, paper napkins... and the baskets are new... used to come on a paper plate.

after stuffing ourselves we went for a ride out in the country and look at the color changes

Finally went and kicked some tires....
Posted by: OldF7Guy_imp - 11-02-2013, 01:54 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

Since my local Honda dealer is out of business and I didnt have anything to do today I made a road trip to look at a CB. I went to Station Park Honda in Louisville and as luck would have it they did not have one. Guy said he sold 3 this month out of the blue. The guy was very nice and told me to head across the river to Indiana at CC Powersports in Clarksville Indiana. Anyway, he gave me a price and told me to look around and kill some time until the other dealer opened. Very laid back place at Station Park.

So I head over to CC powersports and this place is pretty large. Tons of bikes of all sorts. They had one CB stuck way back in the corner and I spotted it. It was the most beautiful bike in the joint bar none. Pictures dont do it justice. Just gorgeous. So I ask to sit on it because I am worried about the height. AT a towering 5'5" I can tip toe on both feet so I can ride this thing. I would need to shave the seat down a tad just for insurance. But now I know for sure I can handle it.

They were a little too high pressure for my tastes and too high but I had to get out of there before I did something stupid like buy it. I saw Honda Hoarders cx500 there and it is mint. They told me about Curt and I said I knew him from this forum.

So after actually seeing it and pouring over every detail I know the CB is for me. Nothing else in the entire building got my blood flowing like this thing does. Now, I just gotta find a bank to rob.
