  Cylinder Plating?
Posted by: dave - 01-30-2014, 11:17 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (46)

Does anybody know if the cylinders have some type of plating, like chrome, or Nikisil? How about the pistons? I'm curious about how long I can expect this air-cooled engine to run before it needs a top end. Thanks.

Does anyone know how the front turn signals come off. I purchased some smaller turn signals, Lockhart Phillips, and am in the process of switching from stock to the L P smaller ones. No Problem on rear of bike, however, I can't figure out how the front signals come off. HELP!

  Fun numbers to play with
Posted by: the Ferret - 01-30-2014, 01:49 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Was just over at cycleergo.com playing with the numbers comparing my 76 K my 2000 CB Nighthawk and the CB 1100

With regards to lean to the bars (smaller number LESS forward lean)

The K was 2 degrees Nighthawk 12 degrees and CB11 12 degrees

So about the same forward lean as the Nighthawk but much further than the K

With regards to knee angle ( smaller number knees MORE bent)

The K was 96 degrees the Nighthawk 91 degrees and the CB11 78 degrees

Wow those pegs are back there

Now, with regard to hip angle (smaller number means you are in more of a crouch)

The K was 97 degrees the Nighthawk 77 degrees and the CB 11 81 degrees

I found it interesting that I am crouching less on the CB 11 than I was on the 750 Nighthawk. I would have sworn it was the other way around.

At any rate it appears we are in a much racier position on the CB 11 than on the original K , but only slightly more racy when compared to the 750 Nighthawk. Footpeg placement seems to be the big bugaboo.

Oh well, fun to play with

  Weekend Ride

In response to the thread on [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1928]who you ride with, I said I mostly ride alone, but I also enjoyed organised rides. I'm not really a joiner of clubs. The Tribe of Judah organised a ride on Saturday and I went along for some of it—I bailed out of the last leg as it was getting late and it was easier for me to head home than to finish the ride.

The [url=https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zwzS5Q1Lo7Yk.kbIgd5sOusuM]map shows the ride I did. The organised ride started and finished at Gympie (Point B) and finished back there, but I dropped out at Imbil (Point E). I'd have preferred less overlap on the ride, but I had no idea where it was going till we set off.

Sorry, Ferret, although the one-handed rider was on the CB, there are no photos of movement on the early part of the organised ride as it poured with rain for much of the first and second legs. I'll do that part of the trip for you again another day and take some pics.

This is my home town showing about themost exciting thing to happen on a Saturday morning.

Northbound on Queensland's main highway.

This one's for IndianRider—not a test match, I fear, mate, but the local game.

  CB1100 Owners Ride,
Posted by: Greg Davis_imp - 01-29-2014, 07:17 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

I wanted to see if there is interest in a CB owners get together / ride. Where: Mountains of NC and E. Tn. When: May 16 and 17. Arrive Thur. ride Friday, ride Sat. and head home Sunday. I have a very good friend, ( Bill Kniegge ) that is an avid enthusiast and has also been involved in the MC industry for over 45 years. Bill conducts organized rides in Europe, and all through the US. Bill was past VP of Husqvarna and Pas President of Bell helmets. Bill would take us on a ride Friday to Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum. http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com Then return to the Hotel http://www.switzerlandinn.com Friday evening for dinner. Sat. we would do another loop from the Switzerland Inn. Stay there Sat. night and head for home Sunday. The great thing about having Bill with us, is, he knows all the places to eat lunch, all the awesome back roads, the does and don't of riding in the mountains for NC & Tn. We don't have to read maps, or guess what route is best, guess where to stop for lunch etc.etc. Bill has conducted VIP rides for all the Motorcycle manufacturers some of the magazine's and basically knows what's happening. Each rider would pay for there hotel and food and there would be a small fee ( maybe $150 ) that would go to Bill for organizing everything. OK, please email me direct gregdavis3@aol.com also post questions etc. on web. we'll see what the interest is and make some decisions in a couple weeks. my cell is 407-617-3417 I know this question is going to come up. do you have to ride a CB 1100 to participate. ????? I would like to see all bikes be CB 1100's

This is one of the places we like to use for events such as we

Not exactly a bike question but ...

How do you attach images to a thread so that they appear large? The ones I load seem very small and you need to click on them to open the image. There is a 250kb limit and many of my pics are near that limit but they are still tiny when displayed in the thread.

Thanks in advance
