Trade a '13 for a '14 EX? How much will it cost?
Posted by: ride4now_imp - 01-23-2014, 11:36 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (100)

I've been vocal about my desire to trade in my '13 if the 14 EX comes to market...
Now that we know the answer to the question 'if'... will I (and many of you...) really pull the plug? I want the 6 speed, the dual pipes, and the chrome double wall headers with their beautiful straight waterfall. And I LOVE the red color, but don't really care about the wheels, instrumentation, tank, etc.. BUT... how much will the difference be? What do you think? Here's my thoughts... My '13 will probably still have less than 2500 miles on it by April. I paid $9300 for it (before taxes and fees). I 'think' the trade in value will be about $7000. The '14 EX will sticker for $11900 (if I've read right). But, I bet that I can get the bike for $11000. $11000 minus $7000 leaves a net cost to me of $4000.... again, before taxes. Question? Am I close to what you think? And is the trade worth it? I am not a high mileage rider... and seldom trade. But my reason for buying this bike is to have one as close to the original 750 as I can get... and unless they come out with a 4 pipe model next year, this fits the bill much better than the '13. Your thoughts?

  Cleaning question
Posted by: Cormanus - 01-22-2014, 03:30 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (26)

G'day

This morning, as I took it off, I brilliantly let the lining of my jacket some into contact with the pipe header. I now have a lump of synthetic material fused to the header.

Can anyone help with suggestions for getting it off, please?

Cheers

SF Bay Area ride on Calaveras Road today
Posted by: IndianRider_imp - 01-22-2014, 03:27 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (6)

Hello fellow CB riders ..

Took a nice ride in relatively warm conditions for winter on one of the local twisty and scenic road (calaveras road) today ..

Fantastic day for a mid week ride to enjoy the CB before lunch .. I was also testing my windshield set up ..

I have the national cycle deflector with a universal laminar lip ( lying around from older bikes) taped up and am playing with the set up .. It appears as if I need to set the deflector shield in the lowest position and position the laminar lower than the top edge so I can let the air hit my shoei gt air at. 70-75mph .. The shoei gt air is super aerodynamic in clean air ..

I have not tried the deflector shied by itself at all yet ..

Enjoy the pics and cheers !!

Guys, I am back on 2 wheels finally....

After telling my boss to stick it and starting my own business I have had to sacrifice, scrimp, and basically go without. I sold my Sportster to help get the business rolling. Things are starting to look up but there is still a ton of economic uncertainty. I have had a lot of sleepless nights and many of those were about the CB11. I lived through this forum all of last year and it nearly killed me. I cant make it another year without a motorcycle of some kind.

I considered getting everything from a CB11 to a Chinese scooter just to get around town on. I have ran the entire gammit through my mind. I looked at every new bike made. Rather than get in over my head and regret it later or buy something too small I made the decision.

I finally was able to make a deal on a Honda CB750 Nighthawk!Excited I have searched for months for the right one. My work requires me to travel all over the state so she is going to get used not only for pleasure but as a workhorse as well.

Its coming from Michigan and I used U-ship to get it here rather than go get it. Its costing me the same as it would as if I went to get it when I factored in motel, gas ect..... Plus, its coming in a covered trailer and not in the back of my pickup. I should have it by mid next week and will post pictures when I get it. (like none of you have ever seen oneROFL) I am excited for it to get here and I dont know why because its literally 6 degrees outside right now with snow on the ground.

I want to give a call out to CA200(the tire man) for helping me on some tire questions when I was negotiating the deal. THe CB11 is still on my want list but for now I think the Nighthawk is my smart play and will keep me satisfied. At least I will have something to ride again!!!Celebrate

When is Monsoon season in the Southwest?
Posted by: davidsargee_imp - 01-22-2014, 09:03 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (11)

Hi guys,

Planning a "bucket list" trip through New Mexico and Arizona this spring, wondering if any of the AZ riders can clue me in on "Monsoon" season and when it is. Obviously want to avoid that.

Preliminary planning is the first week of April for my trip. What is the weather generally like that time of year? I was in AZ late spring in 1996 and all I remember was very hot in the day, cold at night.

Thanks!

This past weekend I put about 600 miles on her, mainly day trips. I used the cell camera for this shot, planning on taking a point and shoot camera on the next trip.

This is Solomon's Castle in Ona, FL. Maybe I can visit it again when is opened.

My wife sent me on an errand to the drug store yesterday evening to pick up a prescription. I took my CB. As I was locking my helmet up when I got there, a guy walked up to me in the parking lot saying, in a thick Russian accent, that is a beautiful bike! Is it a 750? What year is it? Did you do the restoration yourself? When I told him it was a 2013, CB1100, modern fuel injection, ABS brakes, etc. he was floored.

He told me that when he was a teenager in Moscow, he would see from time to time some "Party members" riding around on Honda CBs and he would always think to himself someday he would emigrate to America and HE would be riding around on a CB.

I put it up on the center stand and let my new Russian friend sit on it for a few minutes. He looked happier than a pig in s#$t. I told him if he wanted one, all he had to do was see Big Rich at the Hayward, CA dealer.
