I'm going to order an LED replacement bulb and I left my owners manual at home, anyone know the size of the taillight bulb by chance?

I picked up a brake light flasher, but for it to be able to flash really fast like I want it needs LED bulbs. I added one to my VFR and it looks awesome.

Then after I get that sorted out it's time for a new headlight - a BRIGHT one.

Greetings all, I'm new to the forum and am enjoying my new 2013 CB1100. Its a really nice riding bike, very pleased.

A question, the stock seat, I went on a 3-4 hr ride this past weekend and I felt like the stock seat was "funnelling" my butt down towards the gas tank. It was like I needed to lift and push aft abit on the seat every 10 min to stay comfortable.

Does anyone else get this on the stock seat?

2nd'ly, of those that have gone with an after market seat, what brand did you choose and how do you like it over stock?

Honda website says the 2014 CB1100 is equipped with an aluminum swingarm.

Questions:

1) Can anyone confirm that 2013 models have aluminum swingarms?

2) Samurider carries aluminum swingarms mfg. by OVER Racing...it advertises a 50% weight savings from stock. How can this be if both are aluminum? Is the Over Racing hollow and the stock a solid block of aluminum?

3) How many pounds of weight savings is 50% of the stock arm and how significant is that weight, given that its "sprung" weight (is that the correct term).

I am new to motorcycling...simply interested in the variables surrounding this component and not likely to swap into this aftermarket item. Any educated commentary greatly appreciated.

A road trip for our 20th anniversary.
She on her Vespa 250ie and me on the cb. (yes gentlemen, you can have your cake and eat it)
An easy 1000km over 5 days through South Australia. Match the pace of small town rural life where every 10 minutes nothing happens and it lasts for an hour.
We knew that January is the lead up to the warmest month of South Australia's summer - February, so we would miss the worst.
But the worst heat wave in years was to hit January, and on the Sunday we set off, the forecast said that mid to high 40s centigrade was ahead of us.
I will lie if I say that I did not feel more than a little trepidation. But hey, we had each other and there is safety in numbers!

It was like riding in an oven and here is a counter intuitive observation: keep your visor an jacket closed up. South Australia's heat is so dry it will make biltong (jerkey) of your face in no time. Second tactic: drench your shirt and everything else in water - the slow evaporation under your closed up jacket helps a lot with cooling off. Third tactic: don't stop, or if you do find shade and keep it short. Rider jacket and pants rapidly become like industrial strength electric blankets.
Leaving early only helped for the first bit because the temperature hit high 30s by 8/9am. And with speed limits of 100/110km/hr, distance's wings are clipped.
We had to change our route when my wife hit panic station about the 47 degree forecast for the town we were heading for on the Thursday.
Both bikes showed no issue with the heat, except the Vespa at lower speeds in the towns. The auxiliary fan kicked in quickly.
Oh, and the best thing about the cb is the Airhawk seat cushion. If you have the stock seat, get it. Just get it.
Was it fun? Absolutely - there is something inexplicably enjoyable about discomfort on a motorcycle. We'll do it again without thinking.

Ok, I posted this question on the ECU flash top speed run thread, but got ignored,

Ahem, I watched a YouTube video called CB1100 to 100mph or something.

One of the comments stated that the USA bikes have a 112mph limit but European bikes didn't, he'd had his up to 132mph.

As I'm in Italy at present I can't check it out, but can any of my euro comrades take a spin up the road and check it out please?

I would recommend it be a German as their roads when I was driving in January were perfect, the Italian roads are like concrete dirt tracks, very very dangerous!

I plan to change over to a 100% synthetic motor oil soon, and I would like to completely drain all of the existing engine oil first. (2014 Deluxe). The owner's manual states that you need 4.1 U.S. quarts for an oil and filter change, and 5.2 U.S. quarts "after disassembly". This means that there must be 1.1 quarts of oil remaining somewhere (oil cooler and oil cooler lines?). Any suggestions on how to drain this remaining 1.1 quarts of used engine oil without disassembling my engine?

Someone mentioned last week that they wanted to see the Plot fork brace installed :



I finished installing everything last night and was pleasantly surprised when I got it out in daylight today. The only other changes I might make would be adding either auxillary lights or highway pegs to the crash bar.

I would like to get the Spencer blue tank to change the color of my bike. Any one know a good Honda dealer in Canada where I could buy the tank and ship to USA?
