Thought some of you might be interested in this podcast. I traded one of my CB1100's for a new Vespa GTV300. This was an even up trade. They also threw in approximately $500 worth of goodies.

Anyhow, the owner of the stores where I did the trade, Pride of Cleveland and Cleveland Moto, also does a very cool podcast that I listen to regularly. On the 04/11/14 episode, they talk about the CB1100 that I traded. It got great reviews from the owner and employees.

Cleveland Moto podcast talks a lot about Café Racers, DIY motorcycle mechanics, and they are big fans of vintage Honda CB's. So, they were very excited about getting this CB1100.

I disassembled my exhaust system last evening. Three of the eight nuts where a touch more than hand tight. Maybe its just mine but I would get out your torque wrench for a quick check. The torque value is 15 lbf-ft

Over 1000 miles now on my 14. Lovin it! Well, love everything but that stupid left handlebar switch, which I just can't get used to. Switching between 3 bikes has all of them messed up. Someone started to pull out on me yesterday and I stabbed the turn signal cancel button instead of the horn. Really frustrating. Thinking of buying a left switch off a 2013 and installing it. Then the bike would be near perfection for me then.

For those possibly a bit more mechanical than myself, I'm thinking it would be a plug and play, don't you? Surely they wouldn't change the wiring harness on the bike for a switch change, or the color coding on the t/s wires, the horn wire, the hi/lo beam wire...But.. the order of the plugs into the snap connector might be different on the 13's?

Anybody have any thoughts on this?


BTW Gas mileage was up to 53 mpg on my fill up yesterday.

I found the motorcycle for me - it's the one you all know and love. Next step, go buy it and share great stories with you all. Getting to a purchase is pretty straight forward - or so I thought. Last week I emailed RFQ to 5 Puget Sound dealers and received a quote back in a couple cases and a few rubber stamp "c'mon in and talk to us. We'll beat any deal and we wanna earn your..." You know the rest.

Here's my reply:

"Thank you for reaching out DEALER X. While I appreciate the owners interest in making a deal, my request is pretty simple - a line item quote on the motorcycle. I'm not going to have a conversation with any dealership that does not give me the quote that I requested. Every dealership has unique inventory and risks and sales targets. I work long hours and just don't have time to visit 5 dealerships to deal. If you have the inventory for the CB1100 and want to sell me a motorcycle, please submit me a competitive quote per my original request. Also I am not pitting dealer against dealer by sharing quotes.

If you do not want to provide a quote, I will consider a dealership who will - and I have 2 quotes in hand; one competitive, one not. Toss your hat in the ring your chances are good."

He didn't respond.

I understand market/demand and sometimes you gotta pony up MSRP if you want the bike - and I know the CB1100 is fantastic. Yet there are CBs on showroom floors today and it's fair to ask for a quote. The Honda site prompts you to ask for a friggin quote, yet most dealers ice you when you submit the request.

For those in the market, hold steady and get the deal you deserve. For those with a CB1100 in your garage or on your street, God speed. Hope to join you soon.

Would just like to say I joined this forum about a week before I got my new. & my first CB1100 I got the deluxe model. I have meet a lot of nice guys on here! to be honest I love to ride, I have rode bikes over 40 years! To me forums are to help each other out, tell each other what we do to our bikes, what we add to them, where we find our parts and such at the best deals and tell each other about our mods I get on this forum everyday to enjoy , learn and to help others out! I think we all have fun on here I know I do! Most of us are over age. 50 some younger some in their 20,s so let's all get alone with each other and have fun and keep this forum the best forum of all times! We can cut up, crack jokes and all help each other out! I'm not picking out anyone at all we are all equal and we all grown men with the best bike in the world CB1100 I get home from a ride I get on here to check and see what all went on for the day. At our age we have rode many many miles! So let's keep this forum going for as many miles as we have all rode combined! That would be a lot of miles from all of us ole geezers lol. I hope every single member keeps on posting and most of all if someone needs help let's all pitch in! We all to old to fuss and throw fits! let's set a new record in the weeks to come for the most online at one time! I shake hands with each and every single member on here I hope each and everyone feels the same way !

I did some digging through previous posts and didn't find anything related to this specifically so I'm just gonna ask the question myself...

Do any of you have a favorite online retailer for Honda oil and oil filters? Normally I like to keep my money local and would prefer to give my business to local dealers but, here in the Twin Cities they're all way out in the 'burbs. For this and other reasons, it would make my life simpler if I could purchase consumables online and have them shipped to my front door. Any suggestions?

First absolutely great day here temperature-wise to go for a good ride. Got home from work, got on my gear and hopped on my bike and notice it was very heavy to move. Side stand and off the bike and the back tire is flat. Put it up on the centre stand and rotated the rear tire and there is an f'n screw in my tire. Do i need to take the tire off or can i get a repair kit and plug it? If i need to take the tire off, what is the process regarding the chain, brakes, etc. I'm not an idiot but i have limited experience turning wrenches. Any help would be appreciated.
