2013 versus 2014 chrome headlight shell
Posted by: Houtman_imp - 05-14-2014, 08:17 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (5)

Yesterday I ordered some parts for my soon to arrive 2014 DLX.
Included is a chrome head light shell, Mr. T did not know for certain if the 2013 headlight shell will fit the 2014, I do know that the meter covers are different and not available yet.
Does any one know if the 2013 will fit the 2014 ?

  Keychain Alternative

So who is tired of their key trashing their triple clamps? Check this out. My new Keyport Slide. It holds my bike key, my old Plymouth, the house key and a flashlight. This is by far the best accessory I have ever bought for my bike. More info at store.mykeyport.com. If you'd like I have a discount code MOTOWJAMB1 that will get you free shipping and a free key blank for your bike Just thought I'd share. #keyport #slideandride

I finally burned a tank of fuel
Posted by: Rocky_imp - 05-14-2014, 06:05 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (13)

Spring weather here has been really miserable with nearly constant cold and rainy days. If it wasn't raining it was cold - and vice versa.
But it was a half decent day today so I hit the road for a 253 km (158 mile) run on the CB. A few spurts on the four-lane, but mostly secondary roads so I could vary the speed.
What a joy it is to ride that bike!!!!
I'm so used to the CB900F (919, aka Hornet) being an edgy hooligan bike that the smoothness and good manners of the CB really puts a smile on my face.
And I didn't toot the horn once using the signal light switch Big Grin
I hope I get this right (my first time), but here is a picture of my pride and joy.

  Aftermarket Muffler

What is a good, but not loud, aftermarket muffler for a 2013 CB1100? I know that Staintune is a great muffler but do not want to spend $850. Any suggestions?

  Crankcase over filled
Posted by: Rocky_imp - 05-14-2014, 12:53 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (13)

I recall a thread/conversation about over filled crankcases when the bikes were picked up from the dealer.
I decided to check my sight glass this morning and the oil level was above the upper level mark with no air space. I carefully removed the drain plug (it was very tight) and drained a bit at a time until I saw a bit of air space. The bike is stone cold and on the center stand.
The oil level is at the upper level mark now, but I'll check it again after I've ridden it to make sure I didn't go overboard.

  Russ Collins died
Posted by: Ridem32_imp - 05-13-2014, 04:26 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Russ Collins died at age 74. He was real big in Honda drag bikes. You can find him on YouTube. Back in the. 70,s if you wanted fast aftermarket parts for your CB750 RC engineers was the parts to get. Me & friends all had RC parts on our bikes. Back in the day of the 750 he had 2 750 motors running 190 plus 7. Something seconds in the 1/4 miles he ruled ! RIP RUSS COLLINS

  CB1100 spoted at dealers

Thought it might be helpful to list cb1100 seen on dealer floors.

Today I was in LakeCity Powersports in Lakecity Washington.

They had a '14 deluxe and a '14 standard on the floor ready to sell.

  Seats: comfort ratings
Posted by: shdwghst457_imp - 05-13-2014, 02:25 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (16)

I want to upgrade the seat on my '13 to a more retro style seat. Is the '14 deluxe seat a step up in comfort? The Tiro k0 style looks like a winner too, but if prefer the seat be "official" (with the HONDA on the back).

Putting together an order from Mr T, 14 deluxe side covers included!

  Tallahassee the Scenic Way
Posted by: redbirds_imp - 05-13-2014, 09:25 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (13)

Left yesterday morning for Tallahassee FL to visit with my brother and sister-in-law. I usually take the short and fast route in the cage but this time I was riding and that called for a leisurely pace on the scenic two lane back roads. The trip led through small communities named Cogdell, Lakeland, Hahira and Pavo in Georgia and then onto one of the scenic "Canopy Roads" north of Tallahassee, Florida. The Canopy Roads around the Tallahassee area are especially nice. The county has allowed the Live Oaks and other trees to grow close to the road so that their limbs shade the lanes. In some places the road appears like a tunnel bored through the greenery.

Stopped for a photo in the little community of Cogdell.

Near the town of Lakeland is Banks Lake, a wildlife refuge and popular fishing destination.

Meridian Road just south of Thomasville GA becomes a designated Canopy Road when it enters Florida. This was a new road for me and I was surprised at the many gentle curves and hills here, something unexpected in Florida. The speed limit was 45, just right for enjoying the peace and beauty of this unique byway.

On the trip home, near Hahira, GA, I found this cool Ice cream shop amid Peach orchards. In front of the place were two classic pickup trucks, a Ford and a Chevy.

It was a nice ride and I can't wait to go back and try some of the other Canopy Roads.
