First Annual CB1100 Forum Southeast Ride-In
Posted by: ThomWill_imp - 05-18-2014, 11:11 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (32)

Let's call it a weekend in September. Descending on a point in the southeast for meeting, eating, riding, looking at bikes, telling riding and other war stories.

Slight out of place here since it's for bikes without center stands, but I assembled one of these today:

Great for getting that darn 250 out of the real bike's way!

No, but the Rebel really is a bit underpowered. But then again, I look like a gorilla on a unicycle when I ride it! Owned it for 2 years now and it's got 40 miles on it.

  North Georgia - 5/24 till 6/01
Posted by: ride4now_imp - 05-18-2014, 12:12 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (2)

I'm going to be back in N. Georgia (Cumming) at my home next week from 5/24 through 6/01. I plan on getting in at least 2 good rides while there... N. Georgia, Maggie Valley, and the Nantahala area on my Harley on one ride. And a good forest service (dirt) road ride near Amicalola Forest on the KLR on another. If anyone would be interested in meeting up... let me know.

A beautiful spring day in Florida!!
Posted by: ride4now_imp - 05-18-2014, 10:33 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (4)

Man, if you live in Florida and we're not out riding today, you missed an amazing day. Not a cloud in the sky,
temps this am in the 60's at the beach and in the low 80's with low humidity this afternoon. Wow!!!
I rode from Treasure Island (Tampa Bay Area) over the Skyway bridge, down 301 to Sarasota, then 41 down to Venice then 776 down through Englewood to Boca Grande. 225 miles round trip...left at 8:30, got back at 6:00.
54 mpg...now 525 miles on her...I'm loving this bike!! Here's some shots...with commentary.

A shot of the gulf right down the street from my place...calm waters today.
After I left here...I stopped and talked with a guy cleaning his really clean 1974 Norton Commando 850.
He's going to sell it...$5000, because he can't kick it anymore. His 67 year old knees are giving out.
Wish I would have taken a pix...it was nice.

Stopped at the bridge to let a boat go by... "Hey, my place is a bit up the road on the right, you can leave it there." He didn't listen...

First Good Ride on the New Bike
Posted by: shysue2_imp - 05-18-2014, 10:17 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (50)

Hi Guys, Today I was able to take my CB1100 Dlx out for a decent ride and get to know the bike a little better, and I haven't changed my opinion since yesterday one bit. If anything I'm even more convinced I made the right choice in bikes. Think I'll be keeping this one a long time!

Hubby & I rode through Rio Verde, Fountain Hills, up 87 and then out past Saguaro Lake on the Bush Highway, a quick bit of freeway and then through Fountain Hills and Rio Verde again. Ended up in Cave Creek where we had lunch at Indian Village (they have great Mexican food), and then I swung by my sister's house where I had to show off my bike. Unfortunately, she loves horses (she has seven) and is not into motorcycles so she didn't really appreciate my bike. Oh well.

Got a total of 174 miles in today and had a lot of fun. Ran into some gusty wind in some spots, but it didn't really bother me on this bike for some reason.

I can see a small windshield and maybe a Corbin seat in my future though. My buns were numb after long stretches of riding on the stock seat. It's a shame because I like the looks of the stock seat, but the comfort factor is just not there for long rides. Hmmm . . . I'll have to think about that. Maybe I'll just get one of those Air Hawk seat cushions, I don't know yet.

Anyway here's some pics from the ride today:

What we're hearing about our CB's?
Posted by: ride4now_imp - 05-18-2014, 10:06 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (56)

Could be fun...or could be a waste of time. How about a thread about what people are saying 'to us' when we're out and about on our CB's?

I'll start...

-Yesterday, as I'm walking out of the local Cycle Gear store and mounting the bike... a young 20 something guy riding a Suzuki GSX-R600 walks up to me and says... 'Wow, great looking bike... what year is that? I really like it". After some friendly conversation he says... "When I'm older and ready to start riding a cruiser, I think I'm gonna get one of those"! Thumbs Up

-This morning after leaving Starbucks in Sarasota, a 40 something guy walks up and says..."Beautiful bike! What year is it? How many CC's?" After I told him 1100 CC's... he says... Wow, that's small". Small????? Sad

-Then later this afternoon in Boca Grande as I'm getting ready to head back...a couple who appear to be in their 60's...stop me to ask about the bike. He tells me that he's a biker from way back. Dodgy Then after he tells me how great it looks he's goes on and on telling his wife "how small the bike is... ". Small again? Huh

What are you hearing??

  Rally time...
Posted by: ThomWill_imp - 05-18-2014, 07:29 AM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Just got back from a weekend Rally for a Triumph site I frequent (bonnevilleamerica.com). In addition to many good friends from near and far, and lots of cool Triumph talk... my CB1100 was a topic of MUCH discussion. We have annual regional rallies, rides, and get togethers for that site, and this site is just as cool... just sayin. Idea

  K&H seat question
Posted by: fredkb_imp - 05-18-2014, 01:57 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (1)

Hello, I was thinking of buying a midsize K&H seat.I have a couple of questions.
1-Does the seat come ready to just put straight on the bike or do you have to take latches, etc. from stock seat and transfer to new seat.
2-Is the seat leather or vinyl and if so, is it waterproof.I dont want to have to bother with a rain cover if it rains.
3-Can you move around on seat easier than stock seat.I am used to a firmer seat that you can slide forward or back on. I seem to stick to, or sink in to the old seat, making it harder to move around without having to stand up and change positions.
4-The stock seat seems to make my pelvis rotate forward, does the K&H seat let you sit flatter.
Sorry for all the questions, but I was hoping to be able to have 2 seats that I could swap back and forth at will.
Thanks.
