I bought my 2013 CB1100 in May 2013 with the 2013 Honda carrier. I've been debating for the last year how best to install a small backrest. There have been some great ideas and options on this forum that have helped. I also wanted to change out my seat for comfort reasons. I almost went with the Chip Beck custom Corbin seat and backrest combo to keep it simple, but once I started looking at the K and H seats on Samurider, I decided on a K and H instead. I also noticed on Samurider the 2014 Honda carrier rack. I checked with Takashi and he confirmed it would fit the 2013 CB 1100. So I ordered the 2014 Honda carrier also because it looked more conducive to mounting a backrest by using the crossbar. Because these are a bear to install, I had my Honda dealer swap out the carriers for me ($52). It took them about 15 minutes.
Then I drew up some prints by hand and emailed them to Discount Metal. They laser cut two 1/4" thick tabs and a 1" x 9" x 1/4" bar out of 1/4" steel and welded them exactly as I specified in my drawing:
Then I had it chrome plated:
Here it is with a Kuryakan mini backrest attached:
Fabrication was $130 and chrome plating was $50. Here are a couple more photos on the bike:
I still have the 2013 carrier- if anyone out there is interested in it, let me know, I can ship it to you. Regarding the K and H seat, it is definitely more comfortable and like others have indicated, it is excellent quality. Thanks to all for the great posts and helpful tips on both backrests and seat options!

Today I received a new DLX Seat for my 2011 CB1100.
Great service from Pro Caliber in the US http://www.procaliber.com
The seat plus a few spares and filters were only ordered on July 11th and all arrived today by UPS here in Sydney Australia . Only 7 days later.
First impressions are that the seat looks and feels better than the low profile Aus/Japan spec seat that we have here in Australia. It even goes on and off easier than the original seat. Simply snapped into place first time.
After reading other posts I am confident in getting some extra legroom and comfort for the longer trips. I will let you know the outcome when the warmer weather reappears and I get a time for a few hours in the the new saddle.
An added bonus is the design of the seat. More retro with the quilted pattern and Honda logo. Now even more old timers will comment on the great restoration I've done on such an old bike.(happens just about every time I park the CB outside the coffee shop)
My thanks to all on the forum who did the initial research and trials on this simple and relatively cheap upgrade.
