3 of us rode north on US 421 out of North Carolina up into Tennessee and Kentucky. Had planned a 3 day but a bug I thought I'd conquered came back, came back and haunted me after 1 nite camping. So we rode the planned last 2 days rides into a 1 day ride---long, long day. I'd like to do it again when the weather cools a little.

The tanks on these are beautiful, but I have some concern for how the paint will hold up to my textile riding pants flapping around against the sides of the tank. I thought about clear 3M film, but I haven't been too good at installing that stuff with creating flaws. So, I thought some retro rubber pads might be in order.

I ordered some online and originally intended to put the longest side of the pad parallel to the bottom on the tank. With the way the tank steps down at the back, it just didn't look quite right. After staring at it for a minute, I turned the pad so it was standing up and like that much better. Also, it actually catches my knee in this orientation. I haven't applied the adhesive tape yet since a I am still playing with the exact position, but this is the basic look. Thoughts, comments, criticisms, or opinions?

has anyone done a measurable before and after comparison following installation of a power commander? i find it odd that dynojet has enough time/effort to put up a video of them installing a pcm on a cb1100, but wouldn't put the effort into making a video showing any sort of before/after results (not to mention preparation of any custom maps.) since i have had mixed results with pcm installations (on cars/trucks i have owned they were noticeable, but not on my old 2002 gsxr750) i am hesitant at spending the time/money without seeing something confirming them first.

i am waiting till september when my warranty expires before installing one on the bike, so i was hoping that i could find out something positive here first. to date my changes to the bike have been mainly cosmetic (painted sidecovers and fork gaitors) aside from the yoshimura slip on muffler and 17 tooth front sprocket.

overall i am very happy with my cb1100 "as-is" compared to other motorcycles that i have owned (several sportbikes, an enduro, a triumph thruxton and a few cbs,) but then again who wouldn't mind a little extra performance at minimal work/expense.

12000 odd km service on the Cb and some new tyres to boot. On the reliable say so of my mechanic I have had fitted Dunlop RoadSmart II's. Front 110/80, Rear 150/70. Can't find the 140/70s anymore. Only had them on for a day and because it has been raining and damp I've not really broken them in properly. First impressions are good but will know more after a decent dry weather run. I'm curious, I was just reading the two grip buddies/puppies threads but didn't want to change the subject...so I thought I'd start a new one. (Although I have some numbness on my throttle hand they might cure)
Where do you place your hand on the grips when riding?

I seem to prefer keeping the outer portion of my hand (maybe my little finger width) on the stationary part of the grip as a reference that lets me more finely control my throttle position. Also it gives me more leverage and what I think is more control turning.

However, this seems to sometimes have my hand maybe a little too far away from some of the interior switches/controls (not really too far just not as close as possible…like reaching an extra row away on a keyboard when typing, like typing numbers are easier to miss than others)

So I wondered if anyone rides with their hands towards the most interior position possible without touching any of the stationary parts of the grip or towards the outer portion like I do?

I am strongly considering getting a K&H seat. However I recently got burned by purchasing a Corbin and then not being pleased with the riding posture of the seat. So before I drop a ton of money to have Mt. T ship me a K&H from Samurider, I was wanting to take a look at one in person!

The question: Does anyone know a way to look at a K&H seat in Southern California?

Are there any dealers or shops that sell them? Does anyone have one in the area that would be willing to let me take a look at it? Any other suggestions?
