Here's where I'm at. I'd like to set up, as an alternate running light, a couple of LED aftermarket running-light units. I think I have the mounting issues cracked.

These are not to be IN ADDITION to the headlight; but IN PLACE of them. I envision a toggle switch - either/or.

I want the Flash-To-Pass trigger to work always.

Why? I live in a cuckoo town where they have stoplights set up SO...SLOW...the cycles take over four minutes. With daytime traffic (it being a prosperous little town) your wait at a light can be over ten minutes.

Air cooled? No fan? Kill the engine.

But...given that these signals don't follow a PATTERN (as traffic-sensor signals don't) I can be called to jump to move. Meaning a quick start.

Meaning, sometimes, SEVERAL starts and stops at these lights. Dead ten minutes and starting and stopping. I like to keep the key on so the turn signals, brake lights...all that rot...stays on.

Hard on the battery.

LED running lights with low current draw...better on the battery.

SO. I want to have a toggle or rocker switch...LED running lights or low-beam. I want the flash-to-pass high-beam working at all times; I use that EXTENSIVELY. More effective when low-beam is out.

Advice on wiring this? I had wanted a headlight relay; but maybe, since I seldom ride after dark (safety in a deer-and-bear area) the relay isn't important. Will one more toggle in the flow from battery to bulb, add that much more impedence?

Advice? Thoughts?

Got a great deal on a Moriwaki exhaust system from 4fout2 in the classifieds that was way to good to pass up.

All though it's driving me absolutely crazy, the bike probably won't be started for a few more days. I still have to wipe down the exhaust real clean, then snug all the bolts, and my PC V probably won't be here until around the end of the week.

Well, the postman has been generous over the past few weeks - lots of goodies arrived from all parts of the globe...while my bike was being held hostage at the dealership awaiting a new rear tire, of course!
Finally got it back Friday, and started throwing stuff on: new smoked windscreen for the Comet fairing and new K&H high seat from Mr. T, MIZ front fender from CB4ME, and a Staintune muffler all the way from Down Under. Got everything on Friday but the muffler; ran out of time, and didn't want to jeopardize a planned ride Sat. morning, since I hadn't had it out in three weeks. Hopefully this week will afford me some time to get that done before next weekend.
Since my Triumph is pretty "Cafe'd" out, I was going for more of a "Superbike" look with the CB, which is nearly there now:

I want one - however - it's going to have to be a super steal price wise.

I only had a couple of hours to get a ride in Saturday morning before heading to Columbus to visit my daughter. I spent a several of hours cleaning the CB Friday night (including the chain) so I thought I'd like to let it stay clean for a few days. Besides, I needed to show the Yamaha some love. I hadn't been on it in about a week. After the Ferrets post a few weeks ago showing the covered bridge on one of my favorite local roads had been repaired, I thought I'd better check it out. I'm not sure how long the bridge had been closed for repairs but it was at least a couple of years. It was a nice cool, overcast morning and traffic was light. I managed to get almost 100 miles in so it satisfied my addiction!

Hi guys

I'm running the stock Bridgestones on my cb1100 and the front tire wear bars are showing after 8500 kms (a replacement has already been ordered). The wear is even, and, although the bike has done some kilometers on the highway, most of the time I ride on side roads. Most of these kilometers were done with a pillion, and the back tire looks fine, with plenty of rubber left on it.

I was wondering what your experience was with this? Is this the normal mileage for the BTs? Is it usual for a front tire to wear out before the back one?

Well... I know essentially nothing about CB1100F's beside what I read off of Wiki and a few quick google searches, so bare with me...

I buy & sell motorcycles/cars for a living (own a small pre-owned lot in Oceanside, CA) and this Saturday I went to go buy a KTM 450EXC Dual Sport for next to nothing in Huntington Beach. As I walk up this guys drive way I notice he has about a 4 bedroom house worth of furniture and miscellaneous items laid out front like a garage sale. Next to the KTM is this red/white nighthawk looking thing that I paid virtually no attention to until I loaded up the KTM and was about 10 seconds from going on my way. I asked him what that bike was and what he wanted for it, "It's a 1983 Honda CB1100F," he says, "they only made them for one year". Unknowly what this thing was worth, I asked what he wanted for it, he replied $300 should do it, I have the pink in hand, but the tags are out since 2012. I offered him $150 thinking it had to be worth 4 times that in parts alone for my ebay business. He said $200 and its yours. 5 minutes later, I'm short $200 bucks and a new owner of a 1983 CB1100F.

A day rolls by and I start realizing the following these bikes have and how much they are potentially worth. This bike doesn't not currently run, but turns over freely (carbs have been removed for cleaning and will need to be synced, which my mechanic can handling for a mere $150, everything is there. It will need your typical items like tires, fluids flushed, battery, Etc. but the bike looks to be in really good shape, there are a few things that could use powder coating (rims, headers, a couple trim pieces, but it's all there (even the front cowl fairing). Has an aftermarket ignition, coils/wires, Vance Hines Exhaust, and 33k miles on the odometer, but the guy had a 2 inch thick stack of service records which state he spent $2900 rebuilding the motor less than 1k miles ago. I guess my question is, what is the best route from here? I've been dying to build a badass dirt/street tracker style motorcycle, but I wouldn't want to diminish the value of an original bike if there is too muc value to lose. Should I get it running and turn it? Build it into a badass cafe or street tracker for myself? Or should I restore it as original as possible before turning it? I'd love your guy's input because like I said, I know virtually nothing about these legends. Thanks!

Summer is here and all the "your speed" signs are on the highway. Noticed on longer ride today that these things seem to all clock my speed at about 10 km/hr under what the bike speedo indicates (usually 111 on an indicated 120). All my older bikes (80's) were like this, but figured the digital speedo (assuming it takes it from one of the abs rings) would be better. Don't really care, but wondered if anyone noticed the same.

Thanks to hondahoarder, I now have a seat that doesn't make me numb after 45 minutes.
