Saturday Ride on The Ferrets Turf - jimbo9867_imp - 06-07-2015 I only had a couple of hours to get a ride in Saturday morning before heading to Columbus to visit my daughter. I spent a several of hours cleaning the CB Friday night (including the chain) so I thought I'd like to let it stay clean for a few days. Besides, I needed to show the Yamaha some love. I hadn't been on it in about a week. After the Ferrets post a few weeks ago showing the covered bridge on one of my favorite local roads had been repaired, I thought I'd better check it out. I'm not sure how long the bridge had been closed for repairs but it was at least a couple of years. It was a nice cool, overcast morning and traffic was light. I managed to get almost 100 miles in so it satisfied my addiction! RE: Saturday Ride on The Ferrets Turf - the Ferret - 06-07-2015 Cool I recognize those views! Nice pics and I love FZ-1's. more partial to Gen 1's but Gen 2's are cool too. Great bikes. The throttle mapping on the Gen 2 takes some getting used to, for sure. My only other issue with the bike is the seat. I found the stock seat too hard and after an hour or so it was getting uncomfortable. I just put a Corbin seat on a few weeks ago. So far, its been as bad as the stock seat. I'm told that Corbin seats get better over time. We'll see. I can sit on the stock seat on the CB all day with little discomfort. RE: Saturday Ride on The Ferrets Turf - the Ferret - 06-08-2015 The first couple years of the Gen 2 especially the first year, the fuel mapping was just horrible, almost unrideable like the first year FZ09s, but from what I have read the new R1's mapping is outstanding. How can the same company get it so right and so wrong? How can the same company get it so right and so wrong? I rode an FZ 09 before I bought the FZ 1 and it reminded me of my old 2 stroke dirt bike days. It would hit about 5k rpm and it was like afterburners kicking in. I thought it was going to come out from under me. I'm too old for that! My FZ 1 is a '13 model so it's much more linear but it's still nothing like the CB 1100 that seems to just pull hard from the time you let the clutch out. I like having two bikes with such different personalities but when the time comes to thin the herd the CB 1100 will be the last to go. I hope to own it for a very long time! |
