The 2013 CB1100 that I recent bought had been dropped on both sides of the bike scratching the Crankcase Covers. When I replace the Left Side Crankcase Cover are there any surprises or problems that I should be on the lookout for?

I recently replaced the crankcase cover on a 1982 Yamaha Virago 750 and I had one hell of a time getting the cover back on. Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

I've had this 2014 Std several months now and every time I refuel, I face this same problem. Tonight, I finally figured out that if I hold the A button on the A miles ridden, all the meters are zero-balanced. DUH! What I have been doing is using the A button to move to the B miles ridden and holding the A button down, which zero-balances the B meters but not the A. So, now I know (but can no longer prove it) my average MPH for almost 2K miles is/was 48.9. I'll have to start all over to see accumulative MPH in the future, as well as miles per trip.

Will the 70's/80's cb headlight buckets bolt up to the 14's?

Just completed my first service and happy to say that I am very happy with this bike. Originally I purchased this bike for long distance rides, but find that every day short trips on this bike are great. Now my CB 350F has to complete for riding time with me. Added foot pegs to the 1100 engine guards, which lets me stretch my legs as required.

Any day you can get vertical and ride your bike is a good day.

Went on an easy 70 mile ride this past Saturday. Upon returning home I heard a knocking noise as the bike rolled slowly forward. Put it on the centerstand and as I rolled the rear tire forward you can hear a definite "knock" that appears to be coming from inside the transmission.

Mine is a 2013 with 9600 miles on it. I clean the chain each time I change the oil and lube the chain every 500 miles. Took it into Honda yesterday morning. They still have it and are waiting to hear back from the Tech guys at Honda HQ. They did remove the side cover to make sure the sprocket bolts are properly tightened. They were. All fluids are as they should be.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

On my way home yesterday, I was a bit perturbed at work (something wasn't working and I couldn't figure out why), so I left late, and in doing so, forgot to don my boots. That was annoyance #1.

Annoyance #2 was that I needed gas. I don't like getting gas in the morning when it's warm because stopping makes me sweat profusely and getting into work all sweaty is just no bueno. So I left it for the evening commute, and it being late, all I wanted to do was get home. Even better was that I was running on fumes as the last block had been blinking practically all the way to work in the morning.

So there I am, riding along in the 104*F, 35% humidity that is Arizona in July during monsoon season, when I take the exit for the 202 San Tan loop from I10E and I notice the HOV lane along with the left lane (lanes #1 and 2) are black. Like, super dark black. Quite a bit blacker than the other three lanes. I've seen this somewhere before. That... resembles... oil! But who in their right mind would oil asphalt. Can't be. Ride another half mile or so and a big orange sign, helpfully put up by ADOT well AFTER one would be riding/driving on it, that says "FRESH OIL" Crap! And I'm not wearing my boots. Figures. Well, I didn't need my ankles anyway.

In the most ginger way possible, I changed all the way to the right lane, and rode another few miles to my exit (not my normal exit, but the one I take to get gas early when I believe I won't make it home), and made the slowest right hand turn off the highway I could possibly make.

I made it to the gas station without sliding or anything weird happening. I'm not sure why ADOT decided they needed to oil asphalt... it's not like it's a oil and chip road. Quite dumb IMO. I wonder if they realize they're putting the motoring public's safety at risk with that stupidity?

Incidentally, for those playing along at home, I got 192 miles on that tank, had more than three tenths of a gallon left, and got almost 54mpg.

Anyone installed a fuze block to use with accessories? If you have which one did you use? Most of the accessories come with an inline fuze. I think it might be better to use a fix block rather than hooking up directly to the battery and providing a little more protection.

In the interest of comfort for large feet (like mine) I've ordered some "look-alike" Kury highway foot pegs to replace the skinny pegs I currently have. May just be another way to spend money but I am anxious to try them out when the boat from China arrives. Looking at the pics, the pegs should fit the existing brackets without modification. I'll find out in a couple weeks.
