On a number of the tyre threads on the forum there has been some speculation as to the suitability of 160 rear tyres as compared to the OEM 140. I've recently fitted Pirelli Angel GTs, a 160 tyre, to my '10 model CB. They are well and truly scrubbed in now and, I have to say, they work well. The Ferret made a comment in a recent tyre thread saying that with some good lean on the bike there is still unused rubber on the 160 size PR3s he has fitted. Up until reading that I hadn't really thought about it so, with the new Pirellis fitted, I took the photographs below after a spirited ride through the Snowy Mountains National Park. The Ferret I believe is correct.

So, after looking at the above I would say that the 160 is pretty well suited to this bike. When the pegs are touching, and wearing a little, the tyre is used all the way to the treaded portion with some un-treaded still untouched. Still some rubber to use if you really need it. But what goes down after the pegs? I don't really want to find out. I'd be interested in seeing how that compares with the standard 140 tyres.

I decided to head out from the Boston metro area to wachusett mountain yesterday to see some of the fall foliage and to get some pics of the vista from the summit.

I'm part way there in Harvard, MA and I can see Wachusett mountain which is located in Princeton, MA. No kidding, Harvard looking toward Princeton. Just to the left of the mirror is the mountain.

Has anyone here disassembled the headlight and instrument gauge cluster ? I don't see any issues with the Headlight since I've been in there a few times before. But Kinda worried about the gauges.

My goal is to disassemble each part and Paint or powder coat the chrome.

First off, I have terrible news... Only a month with my baby, and I dropped her already. It was so embarrassing! I was simply turning her around to park, when the front wheel slipped on some wet leaves, and down she went...

The good news is the crash guards around the engine did a great job at keeping her from getting damaged! Bad news is they can only do so much... My clutch lever broke right in half! Now I can't ride around... I tried calling shops and my local dealer and an OEM lever runs $46.00. That's way too much for just a lever! Does anyone know where I can get some aftermarket ones that fit it? And does anyone know what I would be getting myself into by replacing it myself?

Just thought I'd share my test experience with you all. I wanted to see exactly how far I could go on a tank of gas and here's my results on my standard 2013 CB1100.

last gas bar started flashing at 127 miles
ran completely out of gas at 182 miles
took a touch over 3.9 gallons almost to the top of the goofy 2-3" submerged filler neck. Around 46 mpg.

It was a mix of driving, probably 80% in town, 20% highway/interstate. Even got-on-it a few times, one of the times racing a duramax diesel from a red-light, hahaha. So when you start flashing, you're still riding around with probably a little over a gallon at your disposal, so don't sweat it as much as I did, prior to the test.

When I first brought my new bike home 6 months ago, it had an issue with bad gas which fouled the plugs, leading to fuel burning in the catalytic converter. Until the problem was fixed, the catalytic converter got very hot - so hot, it melted the crankcase breather drain tube that runs down to the bottom of the bike near the center-stand (right between the catalytic converter pairs on the '14 DLX).

So my crankcase breather tube is about 4 inches short and I'd like to replace it.

Went to Honda dealer, and he can't get it. He tried to order it, but what he provided was not the right sized tube. When I go to the online Honda parts store, it shows this:

Anybody know where I can get a replacement for my melted crankcase breather tube?

A dude from Florida traded this 2013 CB1100 with 12K miles into a local euro-cycle shop in Roanoke. In my view his modifications were well done. It was nice to get a close up view of a deluxe model and one that has been customized. So I spent some time sitting on this bike and looking over the Farces (at least six).

I left with a very strong feeling that I was going to leave my Black Beauty just as it is. I liked the way it looked when I originally bought it and I still like the way it looks. So no mods for me, I like it Stong-Silent-Straightforward.

Toady I discovered the mounting tab on my left front turn signal lens was broken. It must have occurred when I dropped my bike in June.

It seems the parts suppliers only offer the entire turn signal assembly.

Does anyone know if the lens are sold separately?

I'm trying to find an alternative to the stock CB1100 chrome tail lamp, while keeping the stock rear fender. Is there such an accessory available that bolts-on?

So I got this idea from one of the other threads and I thought I'd try it out. So far I've only done the one word as a trial run. I want to see how well it holds up. I used an oil-based silver Sharpie.
