  Hunting Season & Riding
Posted by: CIP57_imp - 10-26-2015, 10:35 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

Big game hunting is open in my area. With all the traffic in the woods deer are being flushed out into areas they normal don't go. I find this to be the worst time of the year for riding. Yesterday I had one pass in front and his partner pass just behind me. This was not in a rural area where I don't expect this kind of movement. The next few months I will ride in more urban areas than a normally would and my speed will decrease. Blood stains are all over the roadways the last few weeks here in Westchester County. Be careful guys.

What is better than a tail bag to avoid the tank bag scratches?

A FREE TAIL BAG WITH 3 FREE OIL FILTERS INSIDE!! Banana

As kids today say: Just sayin'

A good friend had this Nelson-Rigg 1060 Sport tail bag from and old bike, wasn't using it and gave it to me. He is also selling his F6B and had purchased these filters for it and tossed them inside the bag.

What can I say? It was a winning Monday! Celebrate
I immediately engineered a quick attachment system. The bags straps are not for quick on/off.

  Anyone using the Hellfire Windshield?
Posted by: pbhati_imp - 10-26-2015, 04:22 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (6)

I got the Slipstream Hellfire Windshield when I bought my 2014 Standard after talking with the accessories guy at the dealership. I put it on a few weeks ago as it started to cool off. While it has helped keeping my core warmer on my commute (50 miles on interstate), it seems like it has made the handling a little rough. I am definitely getting more wind at my head, since it seems a bit louder and will kind of jostle my head around a bit.

This is my first experience with a windshield, so I am not sure if that's just the trade off, or if I maybe need to adjust the windshield by bringing it up a bit (if that's possible).

  Simple Exhaust Color Change
Posted by: tavoeltav_imp - 10-25-2015, 07:57 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (6)

So, last week I decided that I wanted to paint my exhaust. Have the standard 2014 model. So, it being mostly black, I thought I would paint it black to have it match. I have little mechanical experience, so I thought it would be something simple to do.

I started by just taking a look at the mounting points and finding the right tools. I went ahead and took some photos so I could have something to compare with.

I went ahead and took the whole exhaust off, unknowing that the muffler was a slip on...

Then after a bit of playing around, I cleaned the parts, sanded, cleaned again, and let them dry overnight, save for the heat shield. I went ahead and painted that the same night.

The next day, I prepped for paint! I didn't really have anywhere to paint them, nor hang them so I had to get creative. I found old speaker wire and I used that around the porch columns.

And then I began painting! Big Grin

And now all that was left was to put it all back together! I was curious what the bike would sound like without the muffler, since, as we all know, it is very quiet stock. I started the engine with just the headers on, and I have to say... I do like the way it sounded... I also like being able to hear, however, so I put the muffler back on. I did get a video of that with some decent sound.

After all of that, I have to say, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out! Big Grin Clap Thumbs Up

from today's ride. Such a smooth, stable, powerful (heavy) motorcycle. Love my Honda's. Going to try and run up 100,000 on her before I quit riding

  Emissions for Motor Bikes
Posted by: activedirt_imp - 10-24-2015, 09:19 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

One of our members, I think is was AzBob, made a statement about motorcycle emissions: "....since we no longer have exhaust emissions for motorcycles". No one appears to have taken exception to this statement. When I read that post I did some internet searching to verify the facts but the search results were conflicting to say the least.

Have the emissions standards for USA motor bikes been eliminated? If not have they changed in some major way?

  Horsepower..IF
Posted by: the Ferret - 10-23-2015, 11:48 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (50)

One of the biggest complaints I hear from non CB 1100 owners on the onternet, is the bikes lack of horsepower. Common internet complaints say if only it had 110 horsepower I would think about buying one.

So.... There are pics of the CB 1100, supposedly a 2016 prototype, the one with the yellow tank, floating around on the web.

Here comes the IF part of the title..... IF this CB produced 110 horsepower, would that be enough to make you trade in your present CB 1100 for the more powerful version? Or are you happy with the horsepower your bike currently has?

  Operation Tank Bag: FAIL
Posted by: Nemo_imp - 10-23-2015, 10:17 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (25)

I need a daily use bag for work, one that I can bring into the office with me. I stopped using a backpack because I'd get to the office early in the am with my shirt's back already soaked in sweat. In my previous bike I had a tank bag with quick-mount system that I took off when getting to work; that system does not work with the CB.

"EUREKA!! The CB has a metal tank, I can use a magnetic tank bag!" I thought. So I bought the Icon Urban Tank Bag. Nice bag, with a helmet carry feature and turns into a backpack is needed. Used it for 2 days and my Isabel's (my CB's name) beautiful black tank developed very ugly scratches Angry, even with the super care I took when sticking the magnets on it or taking the bag off. I even cleaned the contact points to avoid dirt particles acting as sand paper.

Yesterday, I polished the scratches off and returned the tankbag to Cycle Gear. I had the guys there order an Ogio Tail Bag that I will try as my briefcase. Will report when I get it and use it.

LESSONS LEARNED: Isabel's shiny beautiful tank is SACRED REAL ESTATE. The only minerals that will intentionally go close to it are my stones. No more magnets. I also may want to get the Tank Slapper.

Nemo, out
