I have Windjammer from a 77 Kawasaki and a mount for a 78 CB750. I am going to install it on my 14 CB1100 STD. The fairing is in good shape, it is light blue (ugly). I will be painting, wrapping, or ?. Even with a base coat clear coat I don't know if I can achieve the same paint quality as the tank has. Thought about wrapping in in gloss black or satin black. I also have a good size sheet if marine grade black vinyl. I haven't taken the bike apart yet to start test fitting. The weather here has just been too nice. Initial measurements I think it will fit with minor modifications. The fairing has the head light, but I think I can use the one off the bike. The first thing I need to do is clean and prep it for covering it in what ever I am going to use. Can something like this be powder coated?. Any thoughts or comments would be awesome.

It's been a while since I was last on this site (thanks to work) and I have gotten in very little good riding since we all met up for the rally. However, I have found a little historic road here in the low country of South Carolina that I intend to take as soon as I have a day off. It's been a hot, muggy summer and most of the riding that I have done has been to work and back, but it's time to put in some seat time now that the weather is nice. Believe it, or not, I still have yet to pass the 3,600 mile mark, and I have had her since 2013. I do try to split my time up between the VFR and the CB. I don't want the VFR to get her feelings hurt, she has been with me a long time now. Still love the old girl. Hope everyone is doing great, and when is the next Rally?

Aside from a recommendation from by MSF BRC1 Rider Coach, this forum was a major contributor to my choice to find a CB11.

In early August of this year I found a 2013 non-ABS in Cycle Trader at a dealer in New Jersey. The bike had 29 miles on it (39 miles after my test ride). The dealer was 99% a Harley dealer so they probably didn't see much floor traffic looking at the CB11. It was over on the side away from the hogs, kinda looking lonely. Purchase was made and I trailered it home that day. No I didn't ride it home through a rain storm.

I am a little different from those here who have been riding many many years. For my 50th birthday I got my first PTW vehicle in the form of a 2008 Vespa GTS 250 i.e. and got my license on it. Height of the gas price bubble, and height of my kids needing to drive mine and my wife's car, so I figured a Vespa was better than buying another car.

Got hooked on riding using the big Vespa, so this summer I decided to upgrade to a larger machine. I took the BRC1 course to gain manual shifting skills, and did really well. After chatting about what I could see myself on, the rider coach said "you should buy a Honda CB1100." One web search and I found this forum. Within a month, had my 2013. He was right.

Learning curve on the bike was really short with you guys around. Here's what I have done:

1) Givi rack with GIVI monolock case, brake light activated (did a home run wiring job back to the harness);
2) Gearing: I upgraded to a 19T front sprocket and did the sprocket guard mod. I feel the taller gearing is perfect for me now.
3) Riding position: I felt I was leaning forward too much and purchased a set of SW-Motech barbacks. Perfect now.
4) Seat: I'm not really tall (5' 10") but have longish legs, so I wanted a higher seat than stock. It felt as though I was "crouching" on the stock seat and sliding forward too much. I sprung for a high K&H seat through Samurider with red stitching. Beautiful seat, and comfortable, gave me just the lift I needed.
5) Shield: Installed a StreetShield EX and found the noise and buffeting to be uncomfortable. Tried angling it, but did not help. I cut off 6" and it's very quiet now. I may take another little bit off, but I will play with angles first before deciding to do that.
6) Adaptation: I'm still getting used to the size and weight of the bike. I rode the big Vespa about 4000 miles before getting this bike, so I felt ready for it, but still learning. I took the MSF BRC2 course this weekend with the CB11 and got the chance to do a lot of low speed tight maneuvering and got good pointers from the Rider Coach. On the way home I got caught in a downpour so I declare myself as having passed initiation.

I only have about 400 miles on it so far, but plan to pick up the pace this fall. I think I have it set up just right for me now. Been sailing a lot and also ticking off too many things on the "honey do" list on weekends!

Reading over this list, it would have taken years to figure all this out (if at all) without this forum, better than any owner's manual out there. Thanks everyone!! I'll try to post some pix soon.

I would like to see some shots of the Hondaline top case on your CB. If you have some would you post them? Thanks ahead of time. I am debating on a GIVI vs the Honda top case.

Oil and filter change. Spark plug change. Flush and refill rear brake fluid. Check chain adjustment and lube chain. Lubricate all pivot points. Check and adjust tyre pressures. Fit OEM rear rack. Increase front and rear shock preload.



Re-route iPhone audio control cable under the fuel tank and fit cable end stowing points for when not in use.





Pack camping gear.



A short ride latter this afternoon and then fill the tank for an early start tomorrow morning. Weather forecast good. Bike good.

Just an update...

I just rolled 30,000 miles on my '13 CB1100 this PM on a 275-mile day.

Fourth rear tire @ 27,500 mi. (three replacements)
Third front tire @ 27,500 mi. (two replacements)

48+ mpg (over 50 mpg at 65 mph, 46 or so at 80) I've used fuel ranging from 85 octane to 91 octane and I can tell no difference in performance, but 87 "seems" to yield the best mileage. I don't keep meticulous fuel consumption records, BTW. I just fill 'er up and ride.

Chain adjust indicator just now in the green, should go to 50,000 mi. (I'll let you know) I use teflon oil from a spray can.

GN4 10-30 oil every 4,000 miles post break-in w/ Fram 6017A oil filter ($5.88 at the W-Mart)

Original air filter (looks new).

Corbin seat @ 8,000 mi. TourMaster soft saddle bags always, trunk bag on trips. Closet, kitchen and garage in the saddle bags, bedroom and bathroom/medicine chest in the trunk.

Longest day >800 mi.

The bike really seemed to "settle in" or "break in" at about 25,000 miles. Always starts/runs...yawn.

Louder fuel pump whine just started today. Anybody know what that means?

Just bought another CB1100 ( 2013) I had one last year, sold it, decided to buy another. love the motor. etc. Just something about the bike I like. I would really like to have spoke wheels, low bars, and 4 into 2 pipes. Maybe Honda will release a 2016 with spokes etc. ??

I just did an impromptu ride to Grand Forks N.D. and back. 2000 miles. The ride out was nice, the ride back was miserable. Cold with a strong headwind all the way back to Dearborn.
I had not been out there for 45 years. Visited one of my brothers and an old friend.
