What is your best Honda Christmas Present
Posted by: Jeephoto_imp - 12-16-2015, 08:39 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (35)

Ferret commented on my post in another thread and I didn't want to "muddy up" that thread.

"ONE OF?" Dang Jeephoto you must get some dandy Christmas presents. Worship
So, my question is: what is your favorite Honda or CB1100 Christmas Gift?

I got my CB1100 DLX last December so I consider it "one of" my best gifts. The other being when I was 12 and my parents bought my brother and I brand new Honda Trail 70's and surprised us for Christmas. I got the red one, my brother got the gold one. We rode the crap out of those little bikes and loved every minute of it. This looks like mine.

I just love Red Hondas.

  OEM tires
Posted by: wiredgeorge_imp - 12-16-2015, 04:40 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (33)

Just curious... Bought my 2013 CB1100A second hand and it has a Bridgestone BT41 mounted on the rear and a Metzler Z6 mounted on the front and both are stock size. Realize the Metzler didn't come stock; how about the Bridgestone. Which specific Bridgestone came from the factory.

I won't even bother ask which tires to buy because everyone who has ever bought a tire thinks their tire is peachy-keen bwhahahah

  Dart Fly Screen

I fitted this Dart Fly screen and it does a tremendous job of keeping all the wind blast off my body without causing turbulence on the helmet.

Dear friends,

I am going to install the alarm system. To do it I removed plastic box under the seat and found plugs, connected to turn signals etc.

I listed manual, but didn't find pin description of those sockets. Could you help me with that kind of information? Or just a photo of electric scheme.

   Centerstand - Noob question...
Posted by: quietguy_imp - 12-15-2015, 09:19 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (27)

My CTX700 also has chain final drive, but the bike has no centerstand so chain cleaning and lubing is a chore.

Thankfully, the CB1100 has the centerstand.

My question is, can the bike be muscled onto the stand while planted on the saddle?

I've never been comfy trying to get a bike up while standing on the kickstand side of the bike for fear of it toppling to the right. And, I live alone so don't have a "spotter".

... Just wondering

  New Mirrors......
Posted by: 4myredhonda_imp - 12-15-2015, 08:18 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (14)

New Mirrors (See ebay link below). They look nice (IMHO) and seem well made. The hardware was a bit of a challenge, but got it figured out. They came from Taiwan, $10.00 shipping got them to my door in three days. They should match the café theme I am trying to get.

Cheers,

  Retro or Fake
Posted by: Paulb_imp - 12-15-2015, 04:52 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (7)

I began riding back in 1966 and my bikes have mostly reflected the air cooled unfaired style of that era. Bikes I've owned include: Vmax 1200, Bandit 1200, Buell, Enfield 500, Suzuki VX800, Guzzi Californian 1100 etc. I bought my CB1100 because it perfectly fits my design criteria of being a modern bike designed to a retro style. Unfortunately, some manufacturers confuse 'retro' with 'fake'. I'm thinking of water cooled engines with cooling fins and fuel injectors designed to resemble carburettors. The new Triumph Bonneville and Truxton fall into this category and Harley have been down this route with fake Hardtail suspension. One of my favourite new bikes last year was the Indian Scout and I think the engine looks great without fake cooling fins. I'm not having a go at bike designs, just voicing my personal opinion and I would appreciate hearing other views. Perhaps a poll might be appropriate.

The first one is so cheap your kids could get it for you for Christmas

the last one was recommended in the Gear Section of Cycle World Magazine last month

Have not tried any myself (I don't video) and can't recommend the supplier I linked to , just found them on the net.

If someone decides to give one a try, let us know how it went...and post up some vids!
