There is an inexpensive battery charger available at Harbor Freight if anyone is looking for one. It is "on sale" for $6.99 and only $5.44 with following coupon 83799384. Some may want to modify ends with ring connectors and a split connector. For the price, easy mod and will be under $10 complete. For those that don't care about taking off their seat, it is good to go. If your local HF doesn't have the ad with the coupon, just copy & print from this post or you can just show the cashier this post from your smart phone. Price is valid through Christmas Eve. FYI: It goes without saying, but I feel I must point out that this will maintain your battery's charge in between infrequent rides vs charging a discharged battery. Hence the wiring mods may not be necessary. Use an automotive full charger or a more expensive small battery type charger to do that function.

I couldn't just leave the pic alone. It had to be a CB1100!

I only had some short trips to do around the DC, so I didn't stop to fill up the tank yesterday when the initial Estimated Miles Remaining came on. Still had 30+ miles left today, so I took the "long" way home and stopped to eat dinner in Crystal City. After dinner, the bike wouldn't start! Battery was still good, and the starter sounded good. I suspected the fuel because the estimated miles left had changed several times between yesterday and today. I tried rocking/tilting the bike to get fuel where it needed to be, but no luck.

I walked to the nearest gas station, got a container and a gallon of gas, and returned to successfully start the bike.



Big thank you to the attendant at the gas station at Rt. 1 and 23rd. He gave me a free gallon of gas *and* showed me how to open the surprisingly complex container.



Here is how many miles I'd gone:



Lesson: even if the bike says you have 30 or 40 miles left, you may not have that much. I suspect it becomes less accurate the more you are stopping/starting the bike and doing little runs around town. It is probably most accurate when it first comes on, so if it says 40 miles to go, and *still* says 30 miles to go after you've gone much more than 10, be suspicious!

I was enjoying a day at the motocross track with my son; while waiting for our turn to ride. Suddenly there was commotion on the track as a rider had a terrible accident. Neither of us saw him go down but we were told that he was riding alone in that area and must have made an error while going through a new rhythm section. When I arrived, I saw a man a bit older than me (46) calmly laying on the edge of the track surrounded by his friends, unable to feel or move anything from the mid chest down. He had no other visible injuries. A med flight was requested as he had sustained spinal trauma and the nearest trauma center was an hour drive away. I felt totally helpless as the only thing that I could do was to watch his friend hold his helmet still and immobilize his neck and wait. Considering that the track is in the middle of nowhere, an ambulance arrived fairly quickly, as did the police and fire fighters to secure a helipad in the adjacent soybean field. The paramedics transported him off the track to the pit road where the helicopter team was waiting for him. There have been no updates on the Southfork Motocross Track Facebook page as of now.

Regardless of the type of riding we enjoy, we are all riders and brothers.

A bit cool this morning (light freeze) but gorgeous this afternoon; had to ride. We did a 50 mile loop into neighboring Wayne County. Sunny with a light breeze and 63. Home now enjoying a cup of hot Earl Grey.

Just wondering if anyone knows the sales figures worldwide for the CB1100. I'm interested because I know its a rare bike in the UK, 44 imported in 2014 and 88 in 2015. I assume it is more popular in other countries.

I went online to Partzilla to buy a new headlight ear for my '14 DLX. They list the part but somehow it's obsolete. Hmm.

For kicks, I clicked on the 4-2 exhaust system. Obsolete. The gas tank. Obsolete. A replacement fuel filter. Obsolete. Front fender. You know the answer.

Does this make any sense? Seems very unlike Honda.

I was at the dealer this morning by 8:45 am, they had my bike out front on the apron.

I did get some pics and a brief video of her... Will update with a link when the thing's uploaded.

I had a litte heart attack moment today.

I rode 130km and I was luckely already at my destination...when suddenly I lost all power, oil light went on and looking back I saw a trail of liquid.

When I stood still and wanted to start it again, that went difficultly, I had to rev it to keep it alive but directly after a second or qo I saw and smelled what happened to be fuel spilling from underneath the tank.

It really was pouring fuel all over the bike!!!!!!





Me and the guy I met with, someone from a local board who admired the CB and wanted to see one, figured it out quit fast but I did call road assist just in case.
They confirmed the fuel line was lose and fixed it in like 5 seconds since we already had the tank lifted.
The mechanic said its 'clicked' in place now...and seeing its a new bike he wasn't surprised to see this issue arise...
It happens....sometimes....on new bikes.
Bad plugin from the factory perhaps?

I rode home and could not let go what happened, so I took another look and I moved that first black rubber thing a but further in over the green.
I didnt take a picture of it as of now.

But I reaaaaaally would like to see a good picture of a normally connected fuel line.
Just for my own peace of mind....
I could not see how the mechanic clicked it in place.
The problem is you cannot take a very good picture of a connected fuel line with the tank in the way.
But surely someone has better skills than me in taking a picture of that part?
