Thanks to the wealth of CB1100 information here and the contribution of several forum members, I'm making the jump.

I'll conclude my purchase of a new 2014 standard come Saturday and hope to have her delivered sometime Xmas week.

I know, it's the "slow" version - all black.

Final price: $7,999

  Arrow

I recently purchased a slip on Arrow. I have removed the baffle completly and actually like the noise level just fine. The question is two fold.

Can my computer adapt to the increased exhaust flow?

If I add K&N filters and free up the intake will it overwhelm the adaptive ability of the program and require an aftermarket program?

CB's are over populating Richmond Virginia!
Posted by: EGAlvarez_imp - 12-13-2015, 03:17 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (23)

Every second Sunday morning of the month, Richmond motorcycle riders gather at a local pub named "Poe's" (aka: Edgar Allen Poe) for breakfast, motorcycle conversation and riding with friends. The pub is near Poe's childhood home and a block from the Poe Museum. Being that I had just installed my new Road Comet fairing last night, I wanted to ride and show off my CB.

http://www.poemuseum.org/about.php

Being that is has been a very warm December, we had a really nice turnout this morning. This event is always more of a "motorcycle enthusiast" gathering opposed to a "black leather" biker gathering. Today we had several Triumphs, Buell's, Ducati's, BMW's Moto Guzzi's, some Japanese sport bikes/classics, a very exotic MV, some KTM's, a gorgeous 1982 Honda CB1000 Custom, and my CB1100.

It was my first time showing up in the CB and boy did she draw some stares. I was very surprised to see that there was already a CB standard in the parking lot. Immediately, about five guys walked over to admire her and bombard me with questions. Many compliments were made about the two CB's.

About ten minutes later a THIRD CB showed up, another standard. Those two CB's were only the second and third CB's I have ever seen in the wild. The first was Bob's bike when we met for lunch. It was neat seeing those bikes today! I really look forward to the rally next year when I hope to see many more CB's "in the wild" and get to appreciate what you all have done to your bikes!

Take care,
Eddy

If only the Yamaha SR400 had been cheaper...

http://www.scooterfile.com/oems/genuine-...otorcycle/

The same company that sells scooters to Hipsters with too little cash for a Vespa (Genuine) is introducing a retro style 400 cc single. The engine is supposed to be based off the old Honda XR 4 valve engine also used in the GB series bikes. This is outfitted with EFI to meet modern emissions and such.

I really like the looks of it, but I am adept enough to keep an older bike running and would prefer an actual smaller bike from the 70s. Still, it undercuts the SR400 by nearly $1500. I always felt the Yamaha was priced about $1000 too high. Other than the handful of folks who rushed to buy one after they hit showrooms, they haven't exactly flown off the dealer floors.

If Yamaha wanted to sell the bike to those they marketed, they'd have fitted electric start. New riders aren't going to adapt well to a kick only bike with a compression release. Heck, I watched 2 or 3 goons at a dealer trying to get one started to let a customer take a test ride. I wanted to jump in so bad and show them up, haha!

I really enjoy this fella... He spends about 1/2 hour with a 2013 model discovering the amazing abilities of this motorcycle.

Enjoy, I sure did.

  Cheap 2013 Factory Service Manual
Posted by: the_undecider_imp - 12-13-2015, 09:45 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Not sure if this is OK for me to post or if it should be in the for sale section. I'm not selling this myself, but I know of someone who is. Mickey, feel free to delete or move this thread as necessary.

A guy over on the Stromtrooper forum messages me that he has a factory Honda service manual for the 2013 model asking if I want to buy it. He only wants $30 (shipped within the USA via priority flat rate). That's a great price and way less than I paid for mine. I already have a copy, so I figured I would check here if anybody wants me to put them in touch to arrange the purchase.

I do not know the gentleman, so I can't vouch for him and don't want any hard feelings with anyone here who might run into any issues with the purchase. For such a small amount of money this is, I don't suspect it's a scam. As always, though, caveat emptor.

So, I'll send his contact info to whoever responds first. If the deal goes through, please post here so the thread can be deleted. Thanks.
