  2014 owner study
Posted by: Carguy1959_imp - 01-26-2016, 11:10 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

Has any body else received this in the mail from Honda? Basically it is a survey about the 2014 CB1100. And the gift was a dollar bill.

Thread size and pitch of our oil filer caps.
Posted by: kmoney_imp - 01-26-2016, 09:34 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (3)

Looking to add one of those little oil temperature thermometers to the bike (just for looks, as I know the accuracy of these has been debated on here) and wondering if anyone know what the thread pitch and size of our oil caps is.

I've measured it with calipers to be close to M18 x 2.5, but don't have a thread gauge that big to actually confirm this is correct. Thanks in advance for any help.

Don't know that much about Australia, other than many philosophers are named Bruce and the wattle is the emblem of your land. Big Grin

  Speed limiter
Posted by: kslmerkon_imp - 01-25-2016, 11:20 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (24)

HI, I have just joined this forum in the hope of finding out a bit about a speed limiter on the CB1100 2014/15 bikes that I have read in a review article.
I am think of buying the 2015 deluxe model but am a bit hesitant because of the speed limiter. Is there a way to undo the speed limiter?

Thanks

  Custom brake line
Posted by: Swartzracer_imp - 01-25-2016, 02:59 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (10)

I went out and bought a banjo fitting. I put a bend in it to take the shape of the original line and cut the line off the factory three way block and Tig welded a #4 jic fitting to it. Then bought a stainless line of 18" to attach them. Next is reassemble and hope for no leaks.

Hi all,

New to this forum but not to bikes. Been riding, buying and very seldom selling bikes for 40 years this year.

Some of you may be been to various IMS shows in 2014/2015 among other events and saw the 2014 CB1100 Freddie Spencer tribute bike in Honda's booth being raffled for charity. I bought tickets every time I saw that bike several different times and always thought if I didn't win, that would be the CB1100 I would build. As luck would have it, I didn't win. But a motorcycle cop from outside Cincy did. After owning it for a short while, he decided to sell. I was fortunate to just have sold my '79 CBX and '83 CB1100F when I gave him a call. One thing led to another and last week on a day that started -5 degrees I drove 850 miles round trip to pick it up.

Since then I've tweaked a few things and added a few period decals like the Champion one on the tail. You can see the details of the build here:

http://www.aipspeed.com/custom-builds.html

I'll post more photos and details in the next few weeks. The bike is amazing!

Does anyone know if the Deluxe model seat is any higher or wider in the front seating area, compared to the 2013 standard seat?

SW MOTECH crash bars & hwy pegs
Posted by: jedd_imp - 01-25-2016, 06:16 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (18)

I'm thinking of buying SWM crash bars for my DLX, mainly to mount some hwy pegs.

However, I'm thinking that, in order to reach the pegs,
(a) the pegs need to protrude outboard on each side by quite a lot, especially on the left just to clear the massive engine casing.

(b) the pegs may be way too far forward for me to reach w/ short 29" inseam legs legs.

Anyone using hwy pegs on SWM crash bars?
what's your thoughts on this?
THX.
