  Back Rest for CB1100
Posted by: Bighonda14_imp - 06-16-2016, 11:44 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

I hope to locate a CB1100 this summer, and once familiar with the bike invite my almost 10-year old daughter to join me on some rides. For other parents who are members here a few questions:

Any suggestions on the best back rest to attach to this bike? Would like something that gives her a bit more confidence that she won't slide off.

Does 10 years old sound like a reasonable age for a first experience on the back of a motorcycle?

Any other suggestions/comments related to riding with a child on the back?

Thanks!

  Side mount license plate solution
Posted by: elemenopi_imp - 06-16-2016, 10:19 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (7)

Hi guys

I've been trying to find a way to side mount a license plate bracket. Haven't seen any relevant threads in the forum. Anyone have a solution for this? I already have the samurider fender eliminator installed. I hate how my license plate looks on it.

  2016 Ninja H2R 326hp supercharged
Posted by: Offroad - 06-16-2016, 01:51 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (3)

After reading Ferret's demo ride on the VStrom I went looking for other demo rides.

I haven't found any but I did run across Kawasaki's new 2016 Ninja H2R.

First the $53,000 price tag got my attention and made me wonder what could they do to a motorcycle to make it cost so much.

I was impressed!

I've always been an in-line 4 fan....this definitely doesn't disappoint.

Now about that demo ride ;-)

  The one that got away...

After selling my CB450, I was finally ready for a CB11. I have a specific budget to work with. The local Kawasaki dealership got in a '13 6 weeks ago, but the price was beyond the budget. Fast forward 6 weeks, and they drop the price $900 bringing it within striking range. I've been busy all week but planned to drop by there yesterday morning for a test ride and potential purchase. Yesterday my DW informs me that she has an appointment and I need to stay home with our new puppy. Fast forward to 4pm and I thrown my gear in the car and head over to the dealership.

I walk in the door and ask for the sales person that I had been talking to on the phone and he informs me that 20 minutes earlier, someone put a deposit on the bike. While we are having this discussion, another sales person is on the phone with another person who is also on their way to see the bike. So after 6 weeks, 3 people all try to buy the same bike within a half hour of each other.

Since the bike only had a deposit on it, they were kind enough to let me take a test ride anyway. I get back and the guy with the deposit is there. He wanted them to hold the bike for a week. They told him that either he needed to buy the bike then and there, or they would sell it to me. Needless to say, the guy says "okay" and pays for the bike.

I know I'll be able to eventually find a bike that fits my budget, but it was just frustrating to be so close...

  Exhaust options
Posted by: Aussieflyer - 06-15-2016, 06:19 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (9)

My KSY exhaust has a clearance problem on the RHS - it drags well before the foot pegs are near the ground and now almost worn through. I've read that a few other exhaust systems also have the same problem. Wondering if anyone has resolved the problem and/or if there is an aftermarket 4 into 1 system out there that has enough clearance. Appreciate any tips.

  Empty oil filter
Posted by: LongRanger_imp - 06-15-2016, 11:00 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (1)

I came home from a ride a few days ago and drained the oil within minutes of parking the bike, while it was still very hot. I couldn't get the filter off, so I simply reinstalled the drain plug and left the engine unfilled. I bought a new filter wrench but didn't remove the filter until today. I expected it to be partially full of oil, but it was completely dry. Very odd! I removed the drain plug again, thinking perhaps the oil had drained back into the crankcase, but it was dry too. I've never experienced anything like this before!
