There used to be this joke about HD riders riding so slow they get passed by guys on bicycles. Maybe it applies to Kawasaki's too. My son sent me this video this morning. Pretty funny.

Stopped down at my local dealer to thank them again for donating the hat for the rally, and to arrange getting some new skins on my ST, and Tom, the owner, told me tomorrow Yamaha is announcing their 2017 line up and there is a new retro iin it that will be very interesting.

Now I can't wait until tomorrow to see what it is.

Is there anywhere online you guys know if for an Owners Manual in PDF form for download? My new/used bike did not have one. Would kind of like to see recommended Service Intervals on machine!

Use to ride in the 70's with a friend that owned an RD350. When first fired; it smoked like a mosquito fogger. Loved the sound thou

A year ago March, found this. It's a 1974 model. Ran, but needed some work.

Just after unloading it.




Had quite a bit of piston slap. Had to rebore, and put new pistons in. Afterwards, they got a coat of paint and a little polishing.




Replaced the clutch disc's and springs. One of the old disc was cracked.


Low beam on the headlight was out. At the time; couldn't find an OEM replacement, so modified the original with a modern bulb.
Like many headlights of the time; this is a one piece unit (can't just replace the bulb)
Ended up drilling the one bulb out of the housing and silicone'd a new one in its place.
Since then I've gotten a new OEM headlight, but I'll keep the modified in for know. It's actually brighter than the stock one.


Rebuilt the oil pump. PO was running it with premix.
Here is the pump being bench bled, ready to install.


Gauge covers were looking a shabby. Cleaned them up and gave them a couple of coats of paint.


The master cylinder had taken a hit at some point and needed to be rebuilt.




New tires. Trued the wheels too.

I'm planning a stretch the '14 standard's legs trip from Oregon to Illinois to visit my 91 year ol' moma and the route will be roughly this below, maybe into N. Dakota / Minn and Wisc on the way there. To save a few dollars and socialize, any fellow CB1100 riders who wouldn't mind a couch surfer for a night? Would much rather meet folks with similar mc interests, discuss local routes than stay multiple nights in hotels on the way to Illinois. Coming back I have family in Springfield, MO; Topeka, Denver. All within a day's drive of each other. After Denver I may head through Yellowstone on the way back to OR. The begin date is the last week in August, around the 27th.

I've never felt spooked by riding but we've had three fatal motorcycle accidents in the past three days. My girlfriend and I rode past the first one on Saturday -- a car pulled out from an intersection to enter a busy four-lane highway and never saw the Harley rider and his pillion rumbling down the road. When I rode past the scene, the helmetless rider was in a fetal position in the middle of the highway, being tended to by a first responder (emergency crews were still enroute). He died at the scene, and his passenger was life-flighted to the hospital. His wrecked bike was in a tangle in the middle of the road, the headlight still on, but hardly recognizable. I was quite shaken by the sight. Then another fatality on Sunday, and yet another one earlier today. Now I'm questioning how much I could get for my bikes in trade for a Miata. Someone please talk me off the ledge!
