I'm going to have Mr Ed's Moto from Albany Oregon. rebuild my seat. While talking to him on the phone this mourning he told me he has done several seats on the 1100. I'm interested to know if anyone on this forum has had their seat done by him and their thoughts about his seats.

Went for a little adventure the other day with a buddy, hes looking at acquiring an Aprilia Tuono or a BMW R1000R. So we amble on into the dealer, I see this beautiful R Nine T. I sit on the bike, it fits JUST like the CB1100. I asked the salesman if one could be taken on a test drive, he had a demo sitting outside.

I rode it, it felt amazing. No-where near the smoothness of a Honda (opposing two cylinder). 110bhp, good revving. I absolutely loved it. I took it on some of the back roads of SE PA, a very short, few mile trip When I returned to the main highway I figured to give it the goose. I grabbed a mess of throttle, it shot off like a rocket. After I hit the top of second (I was already upwards of 80), I still had 1/4 throttle left to go.

Now, Im a sound kind of guy, I like when my vacuum sounds like a vacuum. This, the ONLY thing I disliked about it was the exhaust note. It wasnt quiet, up high it wasnt bad, but it sounded like a four wheeler. Pop with a rush of air. I didnt particularity care for it. Im not sure if any aftermarket exhausts make it sound better or worse, but factory uh uh.

I highly recommended everyone with a CB go and test ride one of these, its very enjoyable. I dont know, maybe one day ill pick one up.

Hi guys thankyou for adding me I know this is not a welcome forum but I am so happy to see all of you guys.

Just got back from a ride. A chance meeting of family in an out of town coffee shop had me heading home a fair bit later than planned. The delay meant a ride home in 3 deg C or 37 F. I really missed the heated grips I installed on the CTX. My gloves had finger vents and my hands were getting numb. I stopped at a gas station and bought a set of deerskin gloves and a hand warmer. I still had 45 minutes to get home and my fingertips were ice cold. The gas station had cheaper gloves but the deerskin fit so nice and was the only pair that I felt I could operate the controls properly in.

So far I have had the CB1100 for about 4 weeks, and I have 2600 km (1600 miles)in the saddle. I'm really enjoying the bike, getting more used to the weight, higher CG and and standard riding position.

hey, I might have to get into my tank and take out the fuel pump. I'm not sure, since I don't even have the tank off yet, but I think there is a plate I'll have to remove to get to the pump and I'm guessing I'll need to use a sealant when I put it back. Does anybody out there know what kind of sealant I'll need to use, if any? Maybe it's just a gasket I'll need-- thanks- Jim

It was announced today that Harley-Davidson is offering its dealers up to $1000 in factory rebates as incentive to clear out the remaining 2016 inventory. The article points to aging demographics as the primary cause for the unsold bikes, despite reports that Indian has made significant inroads into Harley's sales (though I've only seen one on the road in the past two years). As recently as just a few years ago, there was a waiting list for new Harleys and dealers were charging above MSRP, so perhaps times have changed.

One week old, and slightly over 500 miles on the odometer. Here's my question. Does Honda require the bike have a'first "service" performed at 500 or so miles? I'm thinking some of the Euro bikes recommend an oil and filter change and a general check out of the bike at about 500 miles. One week has almost passed and I'm over 500 miles.

Findings: Front suspension - I measured distance between bottom of top triple clamp and the fork tube scraper/seal in several positions.
- forks fully extended: 160mm
- bike on side stand: 140mm
- me holding bike straight up with me sitting in saddle: 115mm
- bread wrapper twistee movement rocking bike/brake on: 64mm
Fork at softest position (4th ring showing)
Does that sound about right?

PS also set bike shocks at #1 (least preload) position. I weigh 160#.

Picked up this all original survivor that was tucked back in a warehouse forever. owner put on new tires and battery but gave up on it because the electric start wasn't working [ yellow wire unplugged inside the headlight BTW ]
have it down for cleaning and maintenance , original paint , no rust , will do a light touch up down low . still has baffles , no rust on exhaust and it runs so smooth , quiet and got up to 60 easy with more to go but i was speeding ... Had one of these as a kid and it is still so much fun

My complaint about the stock shocks has been a little too much initial compression harshness. I've had Ohlins on other bikes, and they can be plush and firm at the same time, if adjusted properly (or terrible if not adjusted right).

Anyway, I wouldn't spend the money for Ohlins or Works Performance here, and really don't trust the sub-$100 adjustable Chinese copycat Ohlins, although they may be fine. The stock 2017 RS shocks are over $700 each retail AND have no dampening adjustments.

The circa-2000 Kawasaki ZRX1200R (Lawson Replica replicas) came with adjustable-damping attached-reservoir Kayabas (KYB) of the same length. I took a chance and bought a used pair off eBay for $200 plus shipping. All in at $250. I re-painted the springs and re-plated the adjuster hardware, changed the lower bushings, and bolted them on.

On my bike, for some reason, the silver grab handle on the right was a lot lower than the left - maybe 8mm. (The forward nut may have been welded a bit lower.) I had to grind away about 8mm of aluminum off the bottom for clearance. When fully compressed, the shock reservoir will angle up a bit, so it needs 4-5mm more to be safe.

I initially mounted them with the reservoirs facing forward, which looked and worked fine, but blocked seat lock key access.

I settled on the compression damping knob at 2 and the compression wheel at "III", and it feels fine, without the stock shocks' harshness when hitting tar strips or freeway section gaps.
