  I'm getting impatient.....
Posted by: Randy B - 04-20-2017, 02:03 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (27)

I have been anxiously waiting for the 2017 fiche to drop for the CB1100 so I can get a gander at that headlight assembly, but as of yet....no dice.
All of the other new 2017 models have gone live from what I can see, but not the CB.....grrrr.

  Naked or skimpily clad ?
Posted by: the Ferret - 04-19-2017, 11:10 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (57)

I am so torn. I love riding my CB 1100. My cut down NC Street Shield EX windshield does an amazing job of knocking the air pressure off the chest and tank bag making riding more pleasant = skimpily clad

but the other day I took the shield off and OMG it just looks so much better without it. With it off you can see the matching and expensive red headlight bucket and the also expensive chrome instrument cup covers ordered from Samurider in Japan. The front looks light and purposeful. = naked

Fun to look at or fun to ride? That is the dilemma. I may just leave the shield off in the summer when not on a trip.

a bike with a shield and without. Just love the look of without ... don't you?

Front turn signal mounting hole diameter
Posted by: c-breezy_imp - 04-19-2017, 08:31 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (7)

Hoping someone has the answer at hand, and apologies if it's already been covered (I searched) but does anyone know what size mounting bolts the front turn signal mounting holes will accept? I seem to recall that for at least one member, the holes were too small for the aftermarket signals that he purchased and thus, he had to drill.

Thanks in advance!

  Character
Posted by: Cormanus - 04-19-2017, 08:03 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (37)

I'm a bit interested in what constitutes character in a motorcycle.

The Ferret has described it as follows:

Do you agree that character is a euphemism for unreliability? Or is it something more? For example, Moto Guzzi and Ducati are often called character bikes. Is it because they don't copy the design of more traditional British, American and Japanese bikes? Is it that they are Italian and there's a particular view of Italian design and build?

Is it that they are things many aspire to but can't have and so they mask their envy with a certain disparagement?

I've no idea, really, but I'm interested in what you might think.

  Indian Springfield
Posted by: redbirds_imp - 04-19-2017, 07:08 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (15)

Visited my local Indian dealer today just to browse. There was a black Springfield on the floor that really appealed to me. Sitting in the saddle, everything fell to hand, saddle felt good and the roomy floorboards were just right. It lifted easily off it's side stand, easier than my ST1300 as I remember. Standing back and imagining it without it's cruiser getup, it had the look of a large standard. The tires were of a size that seemed to fit the mission. Oh my, never thought I would like a cruiser this much. Only the price keeps me at bay, about $21000. I think I need a test ride.

  Luggage rack
Posted by: chandler_imp - 04-18-2017, 10:13 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (8)

Hi,
My new (slightly used) CB1100 came with this luggage rack installed. It's a nice extra, but I think I want to take it off for a while. I almost feel dumb asking this. Removal looks super easy. It looks like it's mounted to the grab rails with the two bolts on either side. Just wanted to check before I remove it. Anything I should look out for or tips that may make it easier?
Thanks!
