New 2017 ex-owner - i am stumped on how to remove the seat. The manual says turn seat lock key and pull back and up to remove the seat. No luck, the seat wont budge. Unlike older models (2013-2014) there is no latch behind the helmet lock to pull down.

Any ideas?

Is there a back rest available for the CB1100 (2017)?

My rear passenger kept complaining of back pain during the ride even though I lowered the spring tension.

She never had such complaint when we were on the CBX.

I've seen parcel rack available but not one combined with a backrest.
Any help is appreciated.

Well, not quite... almost. Let me explain... I went for an early Sunday morning ride today attempting to beat the heat and rain... summer in Florida. I headed east thinking of riding around Tampa Bay but decided on a change as I was driving on Park Blvd towards i75. I looked ahead, saw rain building to the East and decided that a quick run up Gulf Blvd towards Clearwater Beach and back made more sense. In the left lane I slowed down to let a pickup pulling a trailer to my left get ahead of me. Except he slowed down too... I then gassed it to get ahead of him, and did so crossing a few lanes of road to get to the u-turn lane. I get there and a second or so later, this guy in the pickup beaps his horn and pulls ahead of me in the u-turn lane. There's traffic coming from the other direction, so I'm stuck and wondering... what the heck? He gets out of his truck.... I'm thinking uh, oh... I'm glad that I've got a helmet on. He heads toward me... a big guy... and starts yelling.... is that one of those 1100's? I didn't hear him correctly and answered it's a 2014. He said oh, they're now 1400 cc's? Now I get it, I raised my modular helmets chin bar and tell him it's a 2014 1100. He said cool!!! I remember friends from way back who had CB750's... and I thought they were really neat. He checked out the bike... and said... I need to get one of those. He then headed back to his truck, in the U-Turn lane of a 6 lane divided highway, running, with the drivers door wide open. I made the turn and thought... that was interesting!!! I don't think that would have happened if I was on my Harley or KLR...

So I did the Ontario Cannomball 500 today. I'm a little less than 12 hours I ride through countless towns rode alongside 3 Great Lakes, visited ten different motorcycle dealerships all on my CB1100 without a windshield of any kind.

I'm a little sore on the backside a little stiff and very tired, but it was a fantastic day! I'll post some photos later, there aren't many, no time!!!

i´ve ordered a fairing from samuraider. They've been pretty fast, but unfortunately when it arrived at the custom in Hamburg, had no time to assemble because i was on my way to england two weeks ago, so i did it yesterday. On the pictures there is a rubber band around the top of the fairing i though it was nice but Takashi wrote that it is no necessary anymore. (Maybe because the edge is a little big thicker now so it doesn't act as a magnifying glass to burn the cockpit). Here are some pictures.



This small (Bikini) Version i like best because it is a compromise between wind-shelter, the mantling of the bike and the classic aesthetic so it doesn't hide too much of the classic style.



I think there is a reason why Honda does not offer a windshield, they wanted the purest look.



Samurider did a good job in not to cover too much so you do not see the beauty of this beauty.



One minimal disadvantage has the set from samuraider: they provide a 13 nut bolt. I purchased many tools and carry them with me but 13 is more european size, the japanese is 12, 14, and so on. So i have to take a 13 wrench additionally with me. Ok, that is only a minor problem, i am really satisfied with the windshield.

My CB1100 utilizes a Vetter fairing bracket for the Vesco fairing. I wanted to hide the ugly bracket so I customized a functional air scoop.
I call it the "Vortex Generator Scoop"

Rode my three week old 2014 CB to a friends' wedding reception last night. Got tons of rave reviews on the beauty of the machine. Once home again, and parking in my very dark driveway, I put the kickstand down...oops! wait...the kickstand didn't go all the way down, and I leaned her as I normally would do except it didn't stop! All the way to the ground! I did my best to try and hold her up, but her mighty girth was too much for me. UGH! Broke the clutch lever, scuffed the bar end, and marred the left crankcase cover. I nearly cried.
Never again will I trust that sound of my kickstand going down. Gonna check it every single time from now on.
Went in the house and immediately ordered the new clutch lever from Honda Partshouse. Going wait a bit on the crankcase cover, and maybe just get some touch-up paint for it until I get the guts to do the replacement procedure. BTW, does anyone know what that task entails? It appears like it should be pretty straight forward, but nothing is as easy as it appears it would seem. Heck, even putting the darn kickstand down is a wonder for me!

Whoops. -meant to post this under the "Let's see your CB out on the road" thread.

Does anyone on this forum have experience with a Can-am Spyder? My initial reaction was always "That's not a motorcycle" but lately I've been looking for a way for my wife to join me on rides. She has her MC endorsement but has never felt comfortable with anything on two wheels. I test-drove a Harley three-wheeler but don't think that's the solution for her; cornering was vastly different from a two-wheeler...

I've never driven a Spyder -- at least not yet -- but would like to hear any opinions -- good or bad. If I went this way for her, I'd be thinking used, in the $10-12K range, with automatic (paddle shift?) transmission.
