If you ride to work on Monday, post a picture of your bike parked where at your place of business. My suggestion to those retired folks in our ranks is that you ride to a family member's or friend's place of business and snap a quick pic there. If that's not possible, then a pic in front of SOME place of business will have to suffice.

Here is a 1st for me: I got my left shoelace loop caught under the foot peg on the feeler peg when taking off from a stop at a red light. Luckily I was taking it easy with both acceleration and bringing my foot up. I gassed it hard in 1st gear to keep up with traffic and gently let my foot down and it came off. Accident avoided. Anyone else have this happen to them? I'm still keeping them on; I like the idea of a warning before the foot peg hits the pavement.

At just over 6K miles, my front tire is cupping--badly-- on the left side. Wonder if this is a misaligned wheel (I had it off twice) or just a bad Dunflop tire?

If misaligned, how can I assure myself the new tire will be properly aligned?

Hi All,

I am a newly minted CB1100 owner and wanted to get everyone's opinion on the stock exhaust system. I love my bike and appreciate all the great and subtle details that make it awesome but am finding the exhaust to be too quiet. It is almost to the point of me feeling its lack of "speaking up" makes it tougher for people to notice me in city traffic. I know this is easily remedied by getting an aftermarket exhaust, but I wanted to know if other members similarly felt the stock system is a bit quiet for their tastes and also, the best aftermarket system for a nice sound (not necessarily the loudest).

Recently purchased a set of 7 inch led "daymakers" for me and my dad for father's day went right into his bike 1982 cb900c. but will take some modifications to go into my 13 1100 has anyone else done this yet

Did my 600 mile service today and was curious as to why Honda felt the need for a wiper in there?
It's the only one I've ever seen on an oil window and I've seen a lot of them working in a motorcycle shop for a couple years.
Also, I had a gallon of oil and left a little in the jug instead of just pouring the whole thing in and the level is perfect. Before the change the level filled the entire window. Now it's right at the top line.

I searched through the windshield threads, but could not find a reference to this one.


After a 565 kilometer/350 mile day ride today, I really want a something to break the wind and spare me the constant barrage of bugs. I am 6'2" tall, so I don't think the stylish headlight fairing is going to be sufficient.

Does anyone know who's CB this is or what shield they are using?

If I can find room in my garage and bank account, this will be sitting right next to my CB1100 someday.

With it's 160 hp, I call it the:

1. Super car of the big touring motorcycles or
2. The Cadillac Escalade or maybe I should say Mercedes Benz, but the Escalade comes to mind when I think of smoothness and refinement.

The 1200RT is 120hp, but I didn't ride it, I figured go big or stay home ;-0

Also it's also worth mentioning (no connection, not a plug) but BMW Motorcycles of Louisville, KY will let you ride a new one hassle free, just give them your license, sign and away you go! I took a 20 mile loop around the city.

Talk about exhaust! There's the symmetry we all like! It sounded better than the CB even with my modified muffler. They do have accessory mufflers you can get for like 2K.

The Overlook restaurant is a perfect stop for this route. It has about an hour of curves on either side of it.

I dodged turkeys, deer (one baby couldn't have been over 18 inches tall), squirrels, turtles, raccoon, buzzards, gravel, sand....but the one that got my attention and left me loose for a split second (I never feel my tires slip unless it's my back tire under heavy engine braking or panic stops) was this one:

This curve has an intersecting drive way to a farm....this must be oil, grease, kerosene....there was another spot on the driveway leading out onto the road. Doesn't look like much, but considering how little lubricant it takes to make things slick...got my attention...I was glad I wasn't maxing out my curves or the slide may not have stopped....keep your eyes peeled!

Weather terrorists were predicting rain this afternoon (they were right for a change... it's 12:42 and pouring now) so I decided to get on the road early this morning.Pulled out about 6:45 I think. It was a gorgeous morning, about 72 degrees I would guess, kind of overcast... at least the sun wasn't bright yet, so I threw on my Cabela's windstopper shirt, over a short sleeved C-9 athletic shirt and my Tourmaster mesh jacket. If it got hot I could shed the windstopper and be nice and cool. HJC full face helmet, summer weight Cortech gloves, short top Alpinestar boots and jeans completed the wardrobe.

About an hour into the ride I rolled thru a little town called Williamsburg, and rode past a donuts shop called Holtman's. Been past it many times. Always admired the mural painted on the side of the building, but had never stopped in. About 1/2 block down the road I got a hankering for a Chocolate topped Eclair with real custard filling so I pulled a legal U turn in a parking lot and drove back to the shop.

Since my wife had slept in this morning while I was out riding, I picked up 2 of the eclairs and would take them back to share with my bride.

A nice curvy north-south road with some small elevation changes runs between Williamsburg and the town of Bethel, the next town east of my house, so that's the route I took. It's actually an old Indian/buffalo route the gov't turned into a state route many years ago (St Rt 133) and it runs all the way to the Ohio river, where there was a camp along a small creek that emptied into the Ohio River where buffalo hides were processed. The area is called Bull Skin Creek.

Anyhow once I reached Bethel, I turned west on St Rt 125 (another great road that runs E-W from Cincinnati to the Ohio River near Portsmouth Ohio) then hit some back roads toward home. Flying along I spotted a big ol turtle on the side of the road, so I swung around for a better look

It may be turtle saving season, but this bigger than a dinner plate dude was on his own getting across the highway. These turtle have sharp beaks and incredibly strong bites, and I've heard once they clamp down they are not letting go (even if you cut their head off).

Got home, made a couple cups of hot tea, and my wife I and enjoyed breakfast on the screened deck out back watching the Phoebes, Goldfinches, Titmice, Chickadees, Cardinals, House Finches, Nuthatches, Hummingbirds etc visiting her feeders. Life is good today.

Anyhow a really nice ride, the 88th day in a row, and 147th day I've ridden this year totaling 12,404 miles. With a goal of 20K + miles and riding 340 days, things are looking pretty good.
