Ontario Cannonball 500 - bigsheep_imp - 06-11-2017 So I did the Ontario Cannomball 500 today. I'm a little less than 12 hours I ride through countless towns rode alongside 3 Great Lakes, visited ten different motorcycle dealerships all on my CB1100 without a windshield of any kind. I'm a little sore on the backside a little stiff and very tired, but it was a fantastic day! I'll post some photos later, there aren't many, no time!!! RE: Ontario Cannonball 500 - the Ferret - 06-11-2017 Sounds like a full and fun day. Looking forward to the pics. You wear your new leather jacket? RE: Ontario Cannonball 500 - bigsheep_imp - 06-11-2017 Haha, no it was too hot, I wore a mesh textile with body armour. It performed brilliantly, nice and breezy all day. RE: Ontario Cannonball 500 - Nortoon_imp - 06-12-2017 We had an Open House yesterday as our current home is for sale, so I had to disappear from 2 to 4 PM. It was so miserably hot I did not wear my usual gear, just an open face helmet, T-shirt, shorts, white socks, sneakers and deer skin gloves. Now I really felt retro. Like some time machine had dropped me back into the late 60s. A couple of years ago I tried this on my CB500XA and felt very venerable. Oddly enough this time I was so glad to be free of my heavy and hot gear, I was smiling from ear to ear. Rode to Smith Falls for an iced coffee and maple dipped donut. Felt like I was twenty something again. RE: Ontario Cannonball 500 - bigsheep_imp - 06-13-2017 So the wife thought the 500 was a better place to start and with a 4 year old and a 1 year old at home I can't say I blame her. I started out the day in Hamilton, ON and I followed the Google map route very closely, with only a few alternate routes. I had to dig deep into the reserve in a few spots, but I never ran out! I got a crazy sunburn on a tiny strip between my sleeve and glove. Even with the extra comfort of the Daytona seat, my backside was pretty sore! Here are a few shots from the day. RE: Ontario Cannonball 500 - Lord Popgun - 06-13-2017 Who names a motorcycle shop Crashburn?
RE: Ontario Cannonball 500 - the Ferret - 06-13-2017 really!
RE: Ontario Cannonball 500 - Cormanus - 06-13-2017 Here you go, popgun: Quote:"How did you get the name Chris Crash ?" "I don't know if it's an advert for a story... It all stemmed from back in the day when we made stunt videos and were total hooligans on the streets. I wrote off two brand new sport bikes within a three month period. After a couple crashes that nobody else could have walked away from, plus all the small crashes from learning the stunts, I earned the nickname Chris Crash. My last name is Washburn, so it wasn't too much of a stretch to come up with CRASHBURN for a business name. I don't think it's something to brag about but it definitely played a role in naming the business... lol!" No, I didn't make it up. See http://www.crashburncycles.com/about.html Great name. |
