  Sport Trunk/dime city taillight question
Posted by: Hondahawkrider_imp - 07-25-2017, 01:04 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (1)

I just picked up the chic sport trunk on the used market..

The problem is it doesn't clear the rear tailight.. I'm running thebblwck samurider fender set and unknown rear tailight

I'm looking at the dime city tailight as it's only 2 inches tall

Anyone else running a similar setup?

  New Helmet Help
Posted by: Hondahawkrider_imp - 07-25-2017, 08:47 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (13)

I need a new helmet.

I have a collection (been riding for 20+).. The last new helmet I got was a adv helmet and while it's great for off road.. it looks a tad moronic on the cb1000..

I happened to look at the others and minus the the adv helmet, the remaining ones are 7 years older.. My Suomy that I wearing now wasn't used much if at all, so I'm good for a bit, but it's time to retire my shoei rf1000 and Arai astral (arai for guys with a shoei head)..

When I last bought the main or top two brands were Shoei and Aria. The Suomy was more a European helmet (got it in the U.K.) and not really sold in the US

However, as I've started looking at new helmets, it now seems like there's a ton to choose from that have good reviews (it even looks like Bell is back in the motorcycle helmet game). However, I always prefer to get people's opinions.

So if you all were looking at new helmets or can steer me towards something, I would appreciate your recommendations.

Thx in advance

  She came home today!

I haven't been this excited over a motorcycle purchase in 20 years, and Ive owned a few. I think its the combination of a great bike and a great price that makes it so much fun. She's only been out of the crate for a week. Had no idea I could still find a 2014 that hasn't seen daylight yet. Since Honda places $1000 bonus bucks on the table, I was able to get this bike for $5998, only $300 in total fees, and they tossed in a filter and 5 quarts of Honda oil so I could do my first oil change. I don't know how anyone s making money at these prices, but Im feeling good about it. A classic looking machine with electronic ignition and EFI, the best of both worlds--Let the modding begin.

  WANTED - 19T Front Sprocket
Posted by: CTsCB_imp - 07-24-2017, 03:52 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - No Replies

Hi all
Was wondering if anyone had a spare 19T front sprocket they don't want? I tried to buy one off PBI but they are out of stock at the moment - I have just got my rear 37T thanks to pekingduck and would like to put the front and rear on at the same time, hence I don't want to have to wait till PBI run a new batch.

Thanks

  New CB650F made in Japan
Posted by: Guth_imp - 07-24-2017, 03:28 PM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (23)

I was just reading once again about the new 2018 CB650F. I don't exactly know why as I'm not in the market for one, but for whatever reason I'm interested to see how things work out for this model. I was surprised to read that this bike was being made in Japan.

I was assuming that they would be producing this bike in Thailand at the price point they're competing at. Obviously not a big deal in the over all scheme of things. I simply have a preference for Honda's made in Japan, if for no other reason than the company's heritage. One more nice surprise from this new bike — I hope it does well for them.

Any members along the total eclipse path?
Posted by: kvdv_imp - 07-24-2017, 08:00 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (52)

Hi all - this may be a crazy ask and totally presumptuous, but is there anyone out there who lives in Oregon along the path of the upcoming eclipse who might also have room for a couple of fellow riders to either couch surf or camp in your backyard? The wife and I are leaving early enough for the Western CB1100 rally to also wander into the path of the eclipse on the way if we want to, but virtually every hotel along the path is booked or charging obscene (gouging) prices.
I know it's a long shot, and we're ok with missing the eclipse if it comes down to it, but I thought it might be worth a try. Thanks! - KvdV

Adding original decals on the new CB's
Posted by: af_one_imp - 07-24-2017, 06:48 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (2)

I know there are guys having their 13 and 14 CB1100's painted to replicate the 1983 1100F. There are a few companies producing the original vinyl decals sets from the 81-83 "F" bikes. Does anyone know if these will fit our tanks and side panels. Sure would be cheaper than paint and reversible.
Id love to do the 82 900F orange and red tank strips on my black 2014.

Oil filter failure.... Complete loss of oil pressure
Posted by: x(why)z_imp - 07-24-2017, 01:15 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (49)

Yesterday was no fun.

As I was decelerating coming to a stop I noticed a massive plume of smoke. Oil had spilled catastrophically from the oil filter all over my header, brakes, tank, fenders and shocks.

The riveted hex nut on the from of my oil filter failed, and 2.5 liters of oil drained from my bike in a matter of seconds. I shut my bike down as soon as I saw the plume, so I'm not too concerned that I did internal damage, however my bike is currently in my garage with a massive amount of oil all over it. Top to bottom.

The brakes are useless, and the tires are quite covered.

The part in question is a K&N 204 filter.

I managed a roadside repair, as documented below, but now I have this huge clean up to do.

Any advice? What should I replace? Should I ask for compensation beyond a new filter? I'm pretty saddened by the whole thing. My bike has less than 2000 miles on it.
