Getting ready to pull the trigger on a soon-to-be-mine new 2014 CB1100, I've been reading every article I could get my hands on. In one article the author tells of 'flat handling' and a 'lazy' front end on the '14 models which he says were 'corrected' in the 2017s. Frankly I don't pay much heed. Hearing another's 'critique' of a motorcycle is quite often like having someone review a flavor of ice cream. These 'reviews' are often so qualitatively subjective they hardly offer any value at all. When I had my Monster 696 I thought the damn thing was a beast. You'd just look at the throttle and the damn thing would literally take off. I remember watching a video review where the author states that he found it to be 'severely underpowered'. Laughable, I thought. Still, this is the second review where there's talk of a 'lazy' front end -- one was a Youtube test ride video where the rider found the bike had difficulty coming out of a lean.

Yep, I went BLUE, bought a Yamaha WR250R.
Ever since I sold my Honda XR400 I've been wanting another dual sport bike.
The Yamaha WR250R ticked off all the right boxes for me.
Why you ask did I not buy the Honda CRF250L? In my opinion the CRF250L is a camp ground bike. The Yamaha WR250R is much more dirt ready than the Honda.
I ride 90% dirt, 10% street, so getting the most dirt worthy dual sport bike was my goal.

Hello Guys Has anyone from Canada been able to order factory engine guards from the Honda web site or there dealers. My dealer can't locate them. They show up on Hondas site but dealer says they can't find them in the system.[/size]

I know several people have mentioned gearing for lower RPM...but I find my 14 plenty low enough rpm on the highway, even at speed.

I'm looking to give it a little more spunk. It is very popular on many other bikes to drop the front sprocket a tooth which is usually equal to going up 2-3 in the rear. This is usually done because the cost is less, and the work involved less as well.

I am not really a fan of that in the long run because the decreased radius makes for accelerated chain wear. IMO it is better to go larger on the rear sprocket but that sometimes involves a new longer chain as well.

Has anyone done either? Thoughts? Links to threads?

Yesterday evening I went out for an 2 hour ride. Had to change my route as I came to a real dark thunderstorm. However, finally rode thru the washer and really learned to like my roadcrafter R3.

While in Tallahassee last weekend I dropped by Red Hills Honda and there was a 2014 CB with a dealer installed Yosh full exhaust on the floor marked at $7999 if anyone is looking. Pretty good deal.

I sold my bike on Craigslist to a local young man.

The Africa Twin is more to my liking based on the type of riding I do and want to do. It has a very comfortable riding position, the seat/pegs/handlebar position are more relaxed. It feels lighter and seems to have more torque based on the seat of the pants feeling. No buzzy feeling on the highway in the handlebars. Good wind protection with the taller Honda windshield. 4.9 gallon tank, I should be able to get close to 200 mile range.

I want to complicate this forum and all those that participate. Very informative and helpful, and I like the atmosphere here!
