My two handlebar top clamps do not have even gaps at the back. The left one has a .022" gap and the right one has a .046" gap. I have loosened and retorqued both clamps ensuring the fronts are touching and all the gap is at the back. Is it normal for the gaps to vary so much? I have asked my dealer and they have no clue. Honda was contacted and their local rep refuses to answer if it is good or not. I find the gap variance really distracting. I would just like to know what others have seen.

Is it the red color or the ABS or the silver engine?

I just went to cycletrader and dealers have 168 new 2014 STDs for sale and of course 0 Deluxes. Prices are as low as $5968 (with, of course, the various fees to be added).

OTOH, a lightly used Deluxe, if you can find one nearby is about $8500.

Would it be a crazy idea to buy a STD and have it repainted, if the ABS is of no concern to you?

I'd intended to fit some engine bars to my '17 CB11RS for some a while but wanted stainless steel ones and wasnt able to locate any until i found a set listed as being for a '13 CB1100 on ebay. They were a bit spendy at over 210 quid (UK sterling) but managed to find a set at nearly 100 quid less on ebay so decided to take a chance that the frame hadn't change any in the lower frame rail area between the different model years. The use the lower engine mount bolt as the front mount and have a u-bolt clamp with a plastic shim to deter paint damage for the rear mount around the lower frame rail.

On the RHS bar I had to reverse the engine bolt so that the nut was on the outside as the bar shape prevented the long bolt from going through the mount hole, the LHS had more clearance so the bolt could go back the way it came out with the bolt head outward. Some pics of the bars and installed below.




Fitting of the u-bolt and its clamp was slightly fiddly especially trying to keep the plastic shim in place and on the LHS the u-bolt clamp had to straddle a lower frame rail weld which made it a little bit more awkward. But overall these fitted well without needing gentle persuasion with a hammer or lever to get the holes/bolts lined up which is a vast improvement on some (inc OEM) engine bars I've fitted to other bikes over the years.

Putting more and more miles on the bike and have noticed one annoying thing. At about 4000rpm in any gear it develops an annoying buzz that seems to emanate from the front of the bike. I have checked everything around the headlight, steering head area to see if anything is loose or rubbing and can find nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? Of course I will keep checking.

July 23 physics -teacher was in a tragic motorcycle accident on his harley sportster and is now in heaven with his Maker. Family is very saddened as i know you will be too.

I'm looking for fork brace, but there aren't that many suppliers in UK/Europe that cover the CB1100. Thinking I can obviously use any brace that has the same dimentions as the CB, so wondered if anyone knew the spacing and diam. Of the fork lowers?
Better still anyone knows any other bike models it shares it's set up with?

I'm away at the mo and not near the bike. As usual I'm keen to sort something out for when I return as I have a track day coming up a few days later...

Any pointers appreciated.
