trivia time: identify these mirrors if you can!

I'm just curious to see if anybody can tell me what mirrors these are. I know the bike in the picture was a concept CB1100RS, but the mirrors had to come from somewhere. Thanks for your sage wisdom!

  Second ride out & impressions
Posted by: Jfro5687_imp - 06-17-2018, 11:26 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (5)

Hi all. Just come in from my second ride out on my new RS and I will try to capture this in words in an interesting way for you...here goes. Ok, so its a warm sunny windy day here in beautiful Lincolnshire. I have just done about 90 miles or so and i deliberately hunted out country B roads where there was very little traffic and the speed limits ranged from 30 to 60 mph (just to give people overseas an idea). No motorways or dual carriageways. I always ride with open face helmet and goggles by the way (this is sort of relevant). It was brilliant. At one point I was sort of daydreamimg riding along doing about 45mph in 4th, not in a hurry to be anywhere particular, no cars in front or behind, just me and the bike, just going where the mood took me, the road was winding out ahead of me across rolling green fields sprinkled with red poppies and yellow flowers all along the green hedgerows both sides, i could see for miles ahead, stunning blue sky above with fluffy high clouds, i could smell the flowers and crops blowing about in the wind, the sun was above me and i glanced down at the red metallic tank and BOOM, i just had this really euphoric sensation wash over me. The chrome handle bars, the gauges in the sunshine, the red tank glistening and sparkling, the bike under me purring away, effortless. God it feels good to be alive and how lucky am i right here right now. It was a perfect moment. I hope some of you know what i am trying to explain. The rest of the ride was beautiful and i have not long got back. I absolutely love this bike, love it. This is the first bike I have ever owned that i am not going to do anything to, nothing. Mr Honda I salute you. Thanks

  Capo’s New Ride
Posted by: Capo - 06-17-2018, 05:34 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (8)

So the proceeds of the CB, and soon, the Tiger 800, have been put towards this number. ‘18 Multistrada 1260 S Touring. Got it with 235 miles on it, one month old, from the dealership, was a trade back on a BMW 1600 Bagger by a guy who buys and trades bikes regularly and with little regard for his fiscal health. Got a significant discount and no fees, so made for a good deal.

Two solid days of riding, and I’m blown away by it. It really is multiple bikes in one. Perfect, I mean perfect, ergos for me. Tractable and powerful, and plush ride. Urban mode drops it to 100bhp, lowers it by almost an inch, and makes it usable in town. Touring and Sport modes genuinely change the character of the bike. The bike is balanced as can be, at both the 1mph stop light dance, as well as the considerably faster back road dance.

I’ll withhold judgment on reliability until the miles pile up, but my buddy’s has 28k mi and it’s never been in the shop save for service and a recall. So, abbondanza!

  LED upgrade
Posted by: Skuzzer_imp - 06-16-2018, 11:28 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (13)

Hi, I have a CB with a halogen headlight as standard. I've just got a cheap bankrupt stock LED headlight & would like to add it to the CB.
Problem I have is the connector is 8 pin and no idea which pin to connect where. Couldn't find a 2018 wiring diagram via search engine so I have emailed Stanley in Japan to see if they can help with the connections.
So far the LED fits the old style headlight case perfectly and all the clips and screws line up.
Can't find the connector plug so ordered the nearest thing to it (Sumitomo TS-025" 8 way) the tiny pins maybe useful if nothing else.
Some of the pins maybe unused by Honda i.e. parking light which I think is half the DLR's at half brightness?
Anyone out there with anything to add would be appreciated. I'll keep the forum updated as/when or IF I succeed. Thanks

  Used 2013 for $5,500 vs new 2014 for $7,000
Posted by: Sorg67_imp - 06-16-2018, 08:46 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (88)

There is a 2013 close to me. $5,500 ($5,000 plus $500 tax and tags) out the door 12K miles. There is a new 2014 about 100 miles away. Advertised at $5,999. My guess is that there is a dealer fee in addition to taxes and tags so probably $7,000 or so out the door.

Seems to me that the six speed transmission and "new" is worth an extra $1,500.

I am wondering if there is anything I should worry about with a "new" bike that has been sitting around for 4 years. Here in Florida, we have a lot of humidity so engines sitting around and not being used is not good.

I also understand that new bikes are shipped with protective fluids in the engines. In this state they can be stored for long periods of time without damage. But once they are set up and operational then you want to ride them regularly. So a 2014 that had never been set up and still had the original storage fluids would be considerably better than one that was set up four years ago and has been sitting for a long time.

Do I understand this correctly? Is there anything I can do to determine how long the bike has been set up? Or am I worrying about something that is not an issue.

  Horn switch position
Posted by: johan_imp - 06-16-2018, 01:30 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (5)

To all electrical wizards: would it be hard to modify the CB1100 electrical wiring in order to swap the light horn and sound horn switches?
Has anyone ever tried adding/substituting a form of sound horn switch underneath the turn signal?

  Honk
Posted by: johan_imp - 06-16-2018, 01:15 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (6)

While driving in New York City, good part of my commute goes to using the horn. Alas, it sounds like "pee, pee" and between the drivers that are texting and the drivers who are blasting the rim covers off their wheels with their 1000W amps, nobody hears me anyway (much less do they see me).
Has anyone mounted a Denali Soundbomb or similar aftermarket horn on a CB1100? If so, how and where on the bike? Any info is greatly appreciated and , if at all possible, please post some photos!
