  Another mirror thread
Posted by: 12milesout - 06-27-2019, 05:17 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (10)

I'm currently using a set of Fugu cafe mirrors, but I'm just not happy with them. Part of the problem is my bars (clip-ons). Visibility is somewhat limited, and the left one has always been a bit loose.

I think I've narrowed the search down to either the [url=https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/rizoma-one-mirror?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjeiN6PqJ4wIVkUgNCh1s9ADxEAQYASABEgIlh_D_BwE]Rizoma One, or something from the [url=https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/motogadget-mview-road-glassless-bar-end-mirror?rrec=true]Motogadget glassless line.

Does anybody have either of these installed? I searched the forum, but didn't find anything...

Ctx auto or 6 speed, which one should I buy

Anyone want to weigh in or
give their experiences on this bike.
I'm considering the full fairing version and leaning towards the automatic, which also allows manual shifting
via two left grip mounted buttons

Considering 2013... should I keep looking for 2014?
Posted by: colbrt_imp - 06-26-2019, 10:37 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (60)

New member, old rider here. Smile

Let's start this off by saying, I want a red one. To me, there's just something about those Honda candy colors, and I've owned too many black bikes through the years.

Considering trading my Versys on a nice used 2013. (Yes, they are very different bikes, it's just time for something else.) I know there were some changes made on the 2014 deluxe model that sound rather appealing to me (except I think I prefer the 4-into-1, reminds me of my 400F a bit.) My riding is primarily PA backroads; 45-55 mph stuff... if I'm doing highway, it's just a way to get to work or between the roads I want to be on (or to get home before dark.) I know it's a personal decision, but, was the '14 really that much better?

My other bike right now is a CTX700. Don't hate me, it's DCT. Smile

  Best Road Close to Home
Posted by: Stichill_imp - 06-26-2019, 11:37 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (17)

I've recently become enamored with a road I'd taken for granted. I live in the exurbs, which is a rural area that is gradually being encroached on by suburbia.

In general, heading anywhere north is a recipe for getting into increasing levels of traffic, while heading south takes you out into the countryside, but you have to pass through a few congested areas due to the presence of an interstate highway bisecting the region. How nice would it be if there was a road close by that was a great ride with very little traffic?

It finally dawned on me that such a road would be KY 177 Decoursey Pike between the city of Covington in the north and the town of Butler in the south. 177 runs along the west side of the Licking River. Since the Licking is largely unbridged between those two points, there are few crossroads. Since few people need to travel north-south on the east side of Kenton County, there's little traffic.

The road has a gently winding, meandering character. It's in the lowlands, so it's generally tree-lined and shady...welcome now that the weather is warmer.

It's the perfect road for me to ride after work. I head over there on Wolf Road, turn north and go to Dairy Queen in Covington / Latonia where I can get a chili cheese hot dog (colloquially a "cheese coney") and an ice cream cone. Then I head back south and enjoy the open road as soon as I leave the city limits. It's a 24 mile stoplight-free, stop-sign-free run to Butler, where I loop over onto 3185 and head north on 17 to home. Alternately, I can run a similar route in reverse after dinner, in fact doubling the miles by completing the run in both directions.

Great road for clearing the head.

Perfect rest stop at the north end of the route.

Looking to buy a 2017 CB1100 EX... what should I pay?
Posted by: Morocco36_imp - 06-26-2019, 02:06 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

Hey everyone new guy here. I've been seriously considering picking up a 2017 Honda CB1100 EX (new). I've sourced all the dealers near me and 3 of them have one. One of the dealers actually has 2 of them. Wanted to ask what you guys thought is a fair price? Currently we are looking at 11-12k out the door.... feels high. I bought a GSX-R750 back in 2005 and it was 8900 out the door. Please let me know your thoughts... 1 VA dealer, 1 MD Dealer, 1 PA Dealer.

  Bug splatter ...
Posted by: GoldOxide_imp - 06-25-2019, 12:37 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (41)

I am curious:

How do we clean bug splatter off our helmet visors and motorcycle windshields?

For decades I have successfully used a basic soft cloth and non-ammonia glass cleaner. I find myself cleaning the visor daily during the primary riding season and wish not to spend more than one minute doing the chore. Otherwise, during the winter season I might spend the extra time including dealing with the liners.

What is your voodoo ritual?
