Ctx auto or 6 speed, which one should I buy - Mscb1100_imp - 06-26-2019 Anyone want to weigh in or give their experiences on this bike. I'm considering the full fairing version and leaning towards the automatic, which also allows manual shifting via two left grip mounted buttons RE: Ctx auto or 6 speed, which one should I buy - GoldOxide_imp - 06-27-2019 Can't comment on the Honda CTX700, however the DCT found on other Honda models has its attributes. In the context of the NC750X, I find the 6-speed DCT: * Responsive off the start * Smooth in shifting * Fast in shifting * Gets good economy From my experience, I run mostly in manual mode and control the up and down shift when I want it. The DCT appears to respect Manual Mode requests well. When feeling very lazy like in congestion, Sport Mode 2 (S2) appears useful. When cornering aggressively, Manual Mode appears to work well. Conversely, I do not like Drive Mode because Honda's decision when to shift does not suit me. RE: Ctx auto or 6 speed, which one should I buy - pekingduck - 06-27-2019 At different times, I've ridden both manual and automatic versions of the NC700X, really liked both versions, but would be very happy with either. But that's not a CTX, whose DCT is even a little smoother shifting. On the manual models, it is easy to hit the unexpectedly low rev limiter in lower gears. Not a problem with the DCT, as it will upshift automatically. When maneuvering at low speeds, such as splitting lanes, I missed not having a clutch to slip, and reached for it sometimes. The biggest problem for me would be switching between the DCT and a manual transmission bike. If you had only one type, easy to get used to.
