  A shot at motorcyclists ...
Posted by: GoldOxide_imp - 07-05-2019, 10:45 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (68)

This annoying perceptive of motorcycling was published in June 2019:

[url=https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/braun-put-your-motorcycle-in-the-garage-never-take-it-out-again]BRAUN: Put your motorcycle in the garage & never take it out again

I thought it would be useful to, um, appreciate others' opinions so we can be aware of the perspective.

" ... Just leave the bike at home. Everyone who loves you will be grateful. "

Yeah.

Fortunately, this article responds frankly:

[url=https://driving.ca/features/feature-story/motor-mouth-more-ignorance-about-motorcycling]Motor Mouth: More ignorant grandstanding about motorcycling

Remain aware and alert.

  Theft Attempt - Cut Wire
Posted by: ishouldbuyatacotruck_imp - 07-05-2019, 02:19 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (17)

Hey y’all,

So I went out to start the motorcycle this morning and nothing happened when turning the key. No lights, nothing. Battery shouldn’t be dead, first check of fuses seems okay, but then I noticed this:

It looks like someone tried to bypass the ignition and twist these wires together? Unclear.

Just picked up some items (extra wire, tape) that might help me fix it. Wish me luck.

  Aluminium side covers for 2014
Posted by: Houtman_imp - 07-04-2019, 03:54 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (8)

I kind of like the red side covers on the 2014 DLX but do not care for the black bottom part of it.
Mr. T shows the aluminium side covers made to fit the 2014 , does any has them on their 2014 ?

  Touring Conversion Complete
Posted by: caddy425_imp - 07-03-2019, 10:07 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (12)

In order to make my bike comfortable for two and be able to share my enjoyment of riding with my wife - I decided to create a sport tourer out of my lovely 2016. A big part of the decision to buy this bike was the need for two up riding and the passenger to be out of the wind behind the rider. Job done.
From the front
Fork Brace, RLET's, 1977 Vetter Windjammer SS (1979 kawasaki police brace modified to hold it), Factory heated grips, CB500X mirrors, USB port and Ball mount for GPS, Daytona Frame sliders, kickstand enlarger, oil temperature gauge, Front sprocket down one tooth/Rear Sprocket up one tooth, Upgraded factory seat, English Honda parcel rack, 1978 Goldwing top box (holds two full face helmets), Icon rear shocks, all LED lights.

Needless to say - now we head out - pick a point of the compass and enjoy the backroads of lovely southern Ontario.

Another bike has come and gone while I have owned the CB, but by royal decree, as long as I ride - I am not allowed to sell my bike, And I couldn't be happier.

  Don't Drink and Driver
Posted by: Gone in 60 - 07-03-2019, 03:51 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (10)

Noticed something interesting on the electronic message boards on the freeways on the ride home from work today.

I'm just spit balling here, but I got the impression that most Caltrans officials left the office early for the Fourth of July holiday, leaving an intern to come up with the "don't drink and drive" slogan for the message boards:

"ONLY SPARKLERS SHOULD BE LIT. DRIVER SOBER"

Hold on, just ran a quick errand. Either the intern sobered up or got written up... now says DRIVE, not DRIVER.

Decorating you or your bike for holidays - I've been outclassed
Posted by: Gone in 60 - 07-03-2019, 03:48 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (7)

Ok, so how many of us decorate our bikes for certain holidays? Last night, I gaff-taped flags on either side of my Givi box, to give my bike that presidential motorcade look for the Fourth. And, for the ride to work today, I donned my red, white and blue (but not in a flag pattern) helmet.

I felt pretty cool riding through my neighborhood, till I saw my neighbor coming the other way on his Goldwing wearing what I could swear was a full Evel Knievel suit, complete with cape, and a Captain America helmet.

Dang.

  Houtman's new wheel chock

Guys - I'm posting a pic for Houtman of his new Baxley wheel chock. Looks like a nice solution if you don't have a center stand. See his post for more info.

  Amsoil Question
Posted by: dave - 07-03-2019, 01:04 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (11)

I have not intended to make this a motor oil discussion. I am just asking for feedback from anyone who has used or uses Amsoil motor oil, particularly in their CB1100. A friend of mine has used it for years in all of his vehicles, and he swears by it. The literature published by Amsoil sure reads good, but I would like to hear the opinions from folks on this forum. Thank you.
