Road Comet II: Puig Clip-on Visor?
Posted by: Townie_imp - 08-04-2019, 01:04 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (5)

Folks,

I'm using a Road Comet II fairing. Love the look of it, but after a day of riding the wind blast & noise really tires me out. I can feel the blast hitting me around the neck area, and it forces air up into the helmet. Makes for a noisy day.

Has anyone tried one of these windshield clip-on visors/diffusers on a Road Comet II? Wondering if they are effective. The reviews of the Puig clip-on visor (pic below) seem very good.

Thanks!

  Dragging knee
Posted by: bigsheep_imp - 08-04-2019, 11:29 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (26)

Like many of you, I had an image in my mind of the elite riders from magazines and photos navigating a corner with their knee literally dragging across the pavement. This has been something I wanted to experience for as long as I can remember. I know the bar has risen and now elite riders are dragging elbows and helmets and achieving 65 degrees of lean etc... So today on my fifth track experience, third on my CBR600 I had my butt half off the seat, leaned into the turn and for the first time felt and heard pavement.

We normally run three groups beginner intermediate and expert however because of numbers today we broke up into two. So I had expert/intermediate riders in my group on 1000cc motorcycles and the only person who managed to pass me was this guy with an Aprilia suit on an R1. However I did managed to pass him on the crooked bits but once we hit the straight there is no replacement for displacement. I currently tip the scales at 270 and there was a guy with my exact bike who was easily 80 lbs less and I lapped him twice in a session! I tried to help him out a bit telling him the revsi shift and gears in the corners because I could hear him shifting around 8000, good for the CB, not for the CBR. The weather was amazing and a great day was had by nearly all. There was a gentleman on a supermoto who got in over his head on a turn which happened to be at turn one after the longest straight so the highest speed, he left in the ambulance with non life threatening injuries.

As far as the knee goes it turns out it was a trivial hollow goal, it wasn’t the sensory nirvana I had day dreamed it to be, now that I’ve done it, if it ever happens again as a result of good riding so be it, but not something I’m intentionally trying to make happen again.

  CB Swamp Run
Posted by: redbirds_imp - 08-03-2019, 12:10 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (23)

Nemo and I had a great ride today starting in St. George, GA. for breakfast at a country cafe. From there we rode the south side of the Okefenokee Swamp to Fargo, GA. and a stop at the headwaters of the Suwanee River which flows from this point to the Gulf of Mexico. Heading west from there on Hwy6 to Madison Blue Spring State Park near Madison, FL. East again to Lake Park, GA. for lunch at Rodeo Mexican Restaurant and awesome Quesadillas. East again to Statenville, GA. where we split up for our homes. I had covered 310 miles when I pulled into my garage.

  CB1100 Patch
Posted by: cb1100_dude_imp - 08-03-2019, 07:45 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (3)

Hi All,

I'm a bit vain and a bit of a nerd so I got a custom patch made to replace the patch on my new jacket.

If you're interested I can send you the Etsy profile and the image I created so you can order your own. $6.30 + shipping.

I'll updated this thread once I have it sewn on the left sleeve of my jacket.

Has anybody ever seen a cb w/apes?/mini apes I can't help but think of going bobber instead of cafe. Im thinking 2014 black standard, bar end mirror, fly fairing, no front fender, rear fender eliminator, grill headlight cover, smaller blinkers, upgraded exhaust, those Ducati Scrambler tires, And some 14-16in apes. Talk me out of it.

  Swiss Army Jacket
Posted by: Gone in 60 - 08-02-2019, 12:50 PM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (15)

Just sold two mesh jackets that were sized for a heroic weight loss that didn’t last long after some friends said I went too far with it. That left me with one large hi-viz Olympia for commuting but no hot weather “walking into a restaurant” option for meet ups with my wife or mates.

Just got this Olympia Mesh Tech:

https://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/in...acket.html

$150 is half of what it’s going for on most sites. Unboxed it today and it has two full liners. Stripped it down for summer riding, but with everything in place I can see this being good for cold weather as well. Plus it’s got more pockets than I have stuff to put in them.

The “Loden” color doesn’t photograph well. Looks like a chocolate brown on the actual photos on this sale site but my wife called the color “Grolive” - not quite grey. but not like olive. Very neutral.

Me thinks it’s a keeper!

  Following the Rideau River

Yesterday August 1st was a beautiful day for riding. Rather than set a route and schedule, I decided to bring my camera and just follow the Rideau River.

2014 standard CB1100 vs 2017 CB (whatever this lovely silver/red bike is called!)

I'm sure there's a few on this forum that own both. Is there enough difference that one would want to trade up to the 2017 (or add a 2017 to the stable?)

Could someone discuss the differences? Not from a specsmanship viewpoint, but from a 'how the bikes feel different."

Bob

Brought my CB inside a few weeks ago to ride out hurricane Barry. Yesterday when I was brining it outside I could not get it to start.
The key works, all lights come on. The kill switch is off yet when I press the start button, the lights go off and come back on. Nothing happens?!?!?
